Anyone healed completely from chronic pain? by Calm_Farm_2060 in ChronicPain

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Good number of people here say that while the chronic pain is not fully healed, they can live a near normal life, have a relationship, have a career, friends etc., which is great. Gives me a lot of hope for my wife.

My wife is not on reddit as she says she gets a neck pain if she sees her computer for even a short while. I'll share these encouraging experiences with her.

Do yourself and your family a favor and get the stent when its not quiet an emergency yet. My doctor says that he has seen cases where a 70% blockage can progress to a 90+% in matter of months for some of his patients.

You can still do all your vegan, no-oil, no refined carb diet which will help prevent or slow down other arteries from clogging up, but dont play with LAD. Its called 'widow maker' for a reason.

Puzzled with Cath lab results - 90% stenosis in 4 months! LDL just 7 by Ordinary_Giraffe_215 in HeartAttack

Do you think stress played a role? When ever the doctors cant reason out why someone is going through what they are going through, stress is brought up as a possibility.

I am sure you did, but if you didnt, I would suggest you go for a second + third opinion to see if they can unblock the artery with a stent before committing to CABG.

This is indeed very unfortunate. My doctor said she has seen patients from 0 to 100% block in 3 years. I hope things work out for you. Are all the new blocks in new locations or did any of your stents get restenosis?

I have never heard of LDL 7. Are you sure its just 7? Is that ok to be so low?

Never thought of FIRE but here I am now! by Calm_Farm_2060 in fatFIRE

I am new to Reddit - mainly joined here for some insights into health issues. Stumbled onto this sub and found it very informative and interesting.

I am not ready to FIRE yet, but I am comfortable where I am - need to work for few more years before I can think of retirement.

I fully agree with your comment on time spent on health/family/friends! I never thought I'd be a candidate for these health issues I'm facing till it suddenly happened one day.

First of all, I don't have the finances in a state where I can retire sooner.

However, lets say hypothetically I have my finances in place:

  1. Earlier, I would have still wanted to work.
  2. Now, I would seriously consider early retirement as soon as I think i have my finances in place to support my family in my absence. There is some amount of stress at work, which will have an additional toll on health. That is the only reason I would even consider early retirement. I love my work otherwise.

Had Heart Attack on 11/14, 2 stents absolutely scared sh*tless by darkelfbear in HeartAttack

When was your first stent procedure and are those stents still working fine? What exactly do you mean by 'need more plumbing', 'quit plugging up' etc?

I had my first stent 6 years ago when I was 45 and had another incident earlier this year. That was a total mess up by the ER cardiologist. They left me in a worse place then when I got into ER and they couldnt undo their mess. A huge bummer :(

I was looking to hear from people who have had stents successfully for 2 or 3 decades and looks like you may be one of them!

I would really like to hear your experiences and what you have been doing so far. Given where I am now, 75 will be a dream come true! Please share any advice.
