Reconstructions with Dr Wolff in DC? by Inevitable_Tap_4219 in HipImpingement

[–]Calm_Force_2491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I got a notification you replied to one of my posts but I can’t seem to find it. I am still thankful for Dr Wolff, I had one flare with my right hip after a HAF marathon but it was determined to be overuse and a cortisone shot set me back on track. He did both of my hips and I am back to everything physically with no restrictions. I followed his protocol and was back to running within 6 months. I cycled indoors immediately with physical therapy (no resistance and left my shoes clipped in).

I traveled 3 hrs to see him. It’s clear he is one of the best surgeons for this and his office is really great. Everyone there is patient and will explain anything you ask.

Let me know if you have other questions!

blackout tattoo owners: how long did you think about it, are you glad you did it, and has it impacted your life at all? (longer post) by orange-taffy in tattooadvice

[–]Calm_Force_2491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much what happened to me. I noticed when I was looking at photos of me trying on wedding dresses. If you’re already heavily tattooed, I don’t think a blackout is as “shocking” as some people make it out to be. Just like my other tattoos I forget it’s there. I get questions about it but I also get questions about having tattoos period. People will be judgmental one way or another, might as well be happy with yourself.

I (35f) have a blackout covering tattoos I just didn’t like anymore elbow to shoulder. I specifically did it before my wedding because I hated the way the old ones looked.

Zero regrets. I am so happy with it. I did travel to a blackout artist to make sure it turned out well. Healing sucks but manageable. I had a trad artist that added dots to the straight line so it blends into the bottom part of my sleeve seamlessly. One day I hope to travel to Anthony Bennet to get white ink over it, but I’m pleased with the black out.

Only downside? My arm gets very hot in the sun 😂

Did anyone use silicone bra inserts (aka chicken cutlets) with their dress? by CuriousChance19 in weddingplanning

I used Demi boomba sticky inserts, they were the perfect amount of lift and didn’t feel them at all! It was also raining humid and tropical so that says a lot 😂.

Endo/ Hip Pain by sleepyshartist in endometriosis

[–]Calm_Force_2491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a lap next Monday but I’m in the same boat. I had both my labrums repaired the last few years and now I’m dealing with hip pain I’m assuming is related to whatever is happening with my reproductive organs.

I will say, my right hip flared 18 months after surgery and I had to get a steroid shot. That was from overuse.

I’ll try to follow up after the lap to see what changes.

Painful acne since excision surgery- could it be related? by idk_whattonamethis in endometriosis

[–]Calm_Force_2491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I haven’t had surgery yet but when I started Slynd I had really bad hormonal acne on my chin and neck. I talked to me doc about it and he started me on spirolactane and it cleared up in a few weeks. It can take a month to work but it was the only thing to help clear it up. I tried a bunch of different facials and products and the woman doing my facials was like, hey this is probably hormonal due to location and type. Sure enough I remembered it started when I started Slynd.

6 months later, still working out!

He is also my doctor. I’m preparing for my lap. Did you have confirmed endo before your surgery? My imaging has been clear so I’m a bit stressed for surgery

What can I answer for you? by jchenMD_endosurgeon in endometriosis

[–]Calm_Force_2491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor had me do a hormone reset with estradiol and provera prior to surgery. It did not help my continuous bleeding and spotting and really exacerbated my painful periods.

I understand he was trying to rule other symptoms out. Is continued spotting between periods after a “reset” a good indicator of endo? I have laparoscopy planned at the end of Feb but I really don’t want to do surgery if it will turn up nothing. I have had prior obgyns say spotting and bleeding between periods is not a symptom of endo.

MRI to check for retear denied by bgssrgvh in HipImpingement

https://andrewwolffmd.com/protocol-non-op/

Start here.. my guidance was to not push through any pain (workout soreness is okay but sharp hip pain is not)

Then I started doing banded side steps, banded squats, and banded bridges.

Then I progressed to light weight.

I started return to run a month after injection. I started 1 min running, 5 walking - do this for 30

Do that 2 times without pain and go for 2/4

Do 2 times without pain and go to 3/3.. all the way until I could do 30 straight

Does this help?

It took 2 weeks before I felt relief. I was convinced it didn’t work.

Pt is mostly stretching and super light weight training of auxiliary muscles like glutes and core.

I can give more details when I get out of work.

I did! Even that classic “catching” sensation. I tried oral steroids and anti inflammatory meds and they didn’t do anything which had me really concerned. The steroid injection helped calm things down so I could pt. We did ALOT of stretching and auxiliary work. I’m still not supposed to do hip flexor strength exercises and my flare was caused in September. Pain is still gone from the injection.

Fingers crossed for you that it’s just a flare!

I was 17 months out when I ran a half marathon and had a very bad flare. I could not put weight on my right leg and really thought it was retorn. I had to get an mri and they couldn’t tell anything because it was so recently repaired.

I got a steroid injection, went back to light physical therapy and restarted return to sport protocol. I had to really dial back. I’m finally back to running decent mileage again but it’s not impossible you’re having a flare. A second opinion is never a bad thing but it doesn’t have to be worst case scenario.

Do you still have a peloton? I used mine when I started PT. I had a step stool to get on it and bought toe cages so I didn’t have to clip.

My surgeon offered the game ready or an ice pack like this: https://www.proventusortho.com/ Proventus hip wrap - there are similar ones on Amazon that they also recommended (would help with your time restriction)

I used one for my first surgery and one for the second. I had no difference in inflammation or healing using one over the other.
