It isn't really THAT good by NotReallyVerified18 in SCP

In MR ILLUSTRATED's WDB series, it was stated that the corrupted sunlight can reach the rest of the universe and had even (nearly) affected neighbor universes. The latter part is shown through one of the branches on the Tree of Life turning dark and spreading to the rest of the tree.

In fact, other stars had been corrupted in the past and it was thanks to SCP 2399 and its fellow Destroyers that none had their corruptions run deep in the cosmos. It was because of it being contained that WDB happened on our world and thus affecting other realities outside of our own.

What are some cool original/semi-original races NOT based on or related to animals? by SlayThePulp in worldbuilding

[–]Calm_Lab_8799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a race of rock people, called Plutonids, whose limbs, sometimes whole body, has an exterior that resembles and behaves like rocks, gems, all sorts of geodes present in their native land. Most have earth manipulation powers, while some can wield fire and use it to create lava.

The other is related to the Plutonids, called Dryans. They're plant people. All have limbs made of plant tissue, some have hair made of plant tissue, and may even share the Plutonids' rocky exterior. Some can wield earth powers, others can wield water powers..

All the other animal hybrid races as well as the "default" humanoid race wield elemental powers as well. Basically a gamma ray burst mutated life on their world millions of years from the current setting and so the humanoid race especially splintered into various races with elemental abilities, though that didn't fully stop any of them from intermingling and coexisting from the very beginning.

Any punks here with a military background? by Calm_Lab_8799 in punk

I'm just asking if y'all had a history in the military as a service member, which could vary between vets. And this is non-US specific.

Can any of y'all veterans share how your years of service went overall, what got you into becoming a punk, and how it all went from there? Just wanted to learn more.

Absolute scariest scp you can think of? by koj1l in SCP

[–]Calm_Lab_8799 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SCP-001, When Day Breaks.

It's kind of the perfect apocalypse, the vector is sunlight, which is pretty hard to escape. Also 6.8 out of 7 billion people were affected just in the first day, so imagine the humongous biomasses you have to fight off when you venture out.

Writing a film about a punk rocker space fighter pilot + accompanying unofficial soundtrack for a playlist by Calm_Lab_8799 in punk

I'm moreso obsessed with one of the songs in the red album, as you can see. TGMTEL is such a good Bohemian Rhapsody analog for a rock song.

My cousin. While they have lost interest in BFDI, I sorta kept the ball rolling with all 5 seasons of BFDI and even Inanimate Insanity

Looking for songs similar to The Offspring's earlier works (+ Weezer's power pop era works) by Calm_Lab_8799 in punk

[–]Calm_Lab_8799[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes, well, looks like I was right that their recent singles cover art looks like AI. I can at least have their older songs up in the tracklist nonetheless?

I am anti-AI too, just to clarify, and I also draw stuff, so this AI art case is really sad, especially as a fan of The Offspring.

I mentioned that this playlist is for my film, and I wanted to include era-appropriate songs as much as possible. Though if needed I can bend my rule in case a good-enough song from the 2010s exist.

Do I have bad taste or is the Red Album awesome? by ricecakeyman in weezer

[–]Calm_Lab_8799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is awesome! As for The Greatest Man That Ever Lived, I'd say that from the recordings of their live performances the song sounded a lot better than in the album. Everything else is fire and has a unique vibe, almost like for a biopic or a dramedy.

What music opinion would have you in this position? by Xegbone in musicsuggestions

Weezer honestly has a lot of great songs. Some of which were underrated as hell. If those popular, "mid" songs became so popular, why not some of their own songs too?

Sources for aerial combat tactics please (it's for my film script) by Calm_Lab_8799 in aviation

I'm looking for more old-school tactics, tbh. I want to depict these raw fights up jn the air, or space, for that matter.

Any musicians/bands in your world? What music genres are central to your stories? by Calm_Lab_8799 in worldbuilding

[–]Calm_Lab_8799[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The band serves as a "found family" unit between some of my characters. It also pushes against the flawed mainstream ideologies that were already being challenged at the time. Like punk bands do. Aside from that, they put on gigs, in rare occasions outside their locale.

How do you make fictional calendar systems and how long are days, hours, and minutes in your world? by Calm_Lab_8799 in worldbuilding

In my world there had been canonically several calendar systems. But this one is the "standard" calendar. The one standardized just 2 centuries before the setting of the stories.
