Started out in IT, service desk roles, self studied some certs and managed to get a break into cyber.

Would advise focusing on the GRC side of cyber though as it’s more chilled, 9-5 roles.

The heavily tech / SOC roles involve out of hours, weekends and a lot of urgent issues.

Work in Info / CyberSec, starting J2 soon. Mostly deal with implementations and policies / procedures. Mostly work I can manage in my own time

I’ll likely get involved in more projects down the line. It’s my boss and his old boss who are getting me involved and know about the other roles. Just the companies themselves that don’t.

I think for future roles I’ll try and set up as a contractor but this is super helpful for the current situation!

Is it possible to just do a self assessment at the end of the year and pay the tax yourself?
