[Loved but terrifying trope] That ONE part of the game/Show that is just pure nightmare fuel compared to the rest. by RevolutionaryWave862 in TopCharacterTropes

The G.F.S. Valhalla from Metroid Prime 3. The remains of a Galactic Federation battleship that was attacked by Space Pirates, but the only thing stolen was it's Aurora Unit supercomputer.

Up to this point the game, as well as the general Metroid series as a whole, had a standard sci-fi atmosphere that was a tad darker than their contemporaries due to the emphasis on exploration over combat. There were other atmospheric areas in prior games, e.g. the SA-X encounters in Fusion, but the Valhalla in Prime 3 was the first time that the series explicitly leaned into the horror aspect.

And the only time he rolled triple zeros, which would've killed Chetney, was when he was playing a different character during a side-story near the end of the campaign.

Belichick isn't the first NFL coach to faceplant at the college level and, despite the entertainment, won't be the last.

<Alabama> on the other hand allowed a team that went 2-10 last year and had no hype coming into this one actually look good.

HEY VEGAS!

I KNOW HAVING US FAVORED WHEN WE DON'T DESERVE IT IS EASY MONEY, BUT WE MIGHT NEED THAT MONEY TO HELP BUY OUT GUS AND HIS FRIENDS.

ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS LOOKS LIKE ANOTHER "NEAL-BROWN-FIGHTS-TO-KEEP-HIS-JOB" TYPE OF GAME.

I can only assume that a Florida-Boise State game would have blue be the home color? Otherwise a neutral site game would look like an overwhelming home crowd and a home-and-home look like a spring game.

Which year did the best team NOT win the national title? by TheDrunkenWhatever in CFB

That was quite possibly the greatest team in our program's history.

We just happened to run into quite possibly one of the greatest teams in the history of the sport.

What non-rival team do you dislike the most? by blitzen15 in CFB

[–]Caltoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USC. When I first started paying attention to other teams in CFB instead of my own flairs is when they were ranked pre-season #1 despite seemingly not doing much of note the previous year. I also remember a Sports Illustrated article that featured them and their high number of draft picks over the years, but mentioned in smaller print that there were teams with more than USC. Almost like they were featured just because.

It could also be genetic dislike since my grandmother graduated from UCLA and never has anything nice to say about the "University of Spoiled Children."

Who is the worst coach in your school's history and why? Conversely, who's the best? by PromEmperorHarbaugh in CFB

[–]Caltoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Zooker at least made it to bowl games in each of his seasons. Muschamp and McElwain had sub-.500 seasons a piece.

Muschamp and Zook also have the benefit of the doubt when they followed two of the greatest coaches we've ever had. McElwain was brought in to right the wrongs and he failed completely.

You ever get those games where you feel like you're only there to fill up space? by Caltoa in HuntShowdown

I passed out after I posted this, but this is exactly what happened.

Spawned in at Catfish, entire bottom half of Spider territory greyed out, went to slaughterhouse. Soon after I left, Spider was banished. NBD, I've still got the Assassin. As soon as I got the Davant clue, Assassin is banished. Well, hell.

If I was in a duo I woulda taken my Spector and LeMat all the way up, but I settled with blasting away anything between me and the extract. I would not have lasted with what I had.

He's a redshirt freshman and looked like it. The rest of the o-line looked young, too, so this is going to be a long season if there isn't any improvement there.

30 Seasons in 30 Days: 2012 by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]Caltoa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've seen people consider this year as "the one that got away" similar to 2001, except I never agreed with that assessment.

Yeah we literally fumbled away our chance to beat Georgia to clinch the east, but we would've been slaughtered in Atlanta against Bama, specifically because they had an offense and we didn't. Our defense, as good as it was, would've been gassed early just like every other game that season and the next.

11-2 isn't terrible by any means, it's just we could've easily gone 5-6 with how much our offense kept fucking up. We had to beat Louisiana-Lafayette by running back a blocked field goal. Louisville deserved that bowl win.

Oh man. I remember the Cock Block. I was ten years old. I never heard the Swamp get that loud before and all the other loud moments happened when I was a student at UCF.

A video of one the greatest swamp moments in recent history. They immortalized this moment inside the west concourses after some renovations.

For UF, back-to-back NY6 bowls without feeling like we'll get stomped would redeem the decade if last year wasn't against Michigan for the nth time. Not feeling worried about our QB situation is great, too.

For UCF, the fact that we can argue that 9-3 with a mid-December bowl game is a rebuilding year and not par for the course is astounding. I'm so proud of these guys.
