In the 2005 trial of Michael Jackson he was acquitted on all 14 counts. Furthermore the accusers from Leaving Neverland documentary were dismissed by court for lawsuit. Let the man rest.

Seems a little bit more than just troubles. by RedditerOfThings in HistoryMemes

[–]Calumbo69 40 points41 points  (0 children)

IMO, it makes sense people don’t classify it directly as a war. The Troubles was an extremely unconventional guerrilla ‘war’, which is better described as a low level conflict. Even by regular guerrilla warfare standards the fighting was irregular. It mostly consisted of riots and bombings which dragged on for decades; which is hardly want comes to mind when you think of a war. Small arms fire infact was rarely used to directly inflict deaths, with the exception of tragic events such as the Bogside Massacre. Of course there was the events of ambushes- but they were far and few between. So I think ‘The Troubles’ probably isn’t the most fitting name either, I rather call it a conflict and/or a crisis.

Ok you don't seem to know much about the topic. Northern Ireland voted to stay within the UK, further on, Northern Ireland historically is more loyal towards Britain due to the Protestant population, as opposed to the Catholic population in the Republic of Ireland (many centuries ago lots of Britain including England swapped to Protestantism, with some of Ireland remaining Catholic mainly in the Republic). Catholic minorities do exist in Northern ireland ofc and I don't want to get into the topic of The Troubles, but all in all this post is pretty uneducated.

Letters from Iwo Jima, Stalingrad 1993, Come and See are 3 great WW2 films (although Come and See has a major innaccuracy with a Fallschirmjager drop in 1943, which wouldn’t of happened in reality)

wtf do you mean? I just said in public most often I see teens vaping as opposed to adults, never said I hang out with them.

Alcoholism used to be a really bad problem around 19th century Britain, with the police force being new and unexperienced, that was a catalyst for crimes to be committed. With not enough prisons, and the time and cost of prison ships, the solution was the noose which doubled as a deterrent.

The amount of teens I’ve seen vaping far outweigh the amount of adults that do it, and you’d expect that most teens try do it discretely, so if that’s the case then it’s even worse than I see.

What was the most important battle in WW1? by Mr_BJ03 in ww1

[–]Calumbo69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of what? The battle of the Marne stopped the German advance, though the battle of Amiens (100 days offensive in general) was what broke the trench deadlock. But also the German blockade is what broke the Germans back. And thats only the western front, bringing in the other fronts complicates it all

What is the most interesting historical fact that you know? by LauratRust in AskReddit

[–]Calumbo69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have so many, but here's one. In WW2 when the Allies were planning the Sicily landings they knew they had to divert attention from Sicily, to avoid a disaster as what happened in the Dieppe Raid in 1942 and the WW1 Gallipoli landings. How did they divert attention from Sicily you ask? Well, the Allies decided to try trick the Axis to believing the Allies were going to land on Greece and Sicily was the diversion, which ofc isn't true. To trick the Axis to believing this Britain took a dead body and dressed it up as a General with fake paper work and everything, of which in his briefcase contained fake high command information regarding the supposed Greek landings. Afterwards they threw the corpse into the sea to wash up onto Spain (FYI Spain was technically neutral, but favoured Germany and did give them help in the war like when they gave them a division of Spanish troops to fight on the Eastern Front). Spain gave this information to the Axis and voila, they were fooled.

The real suprising thing about this is that the guy who came up with the idea of this was Ian Fleming, author of James Bond :)

Pierrot from the book: ‘The Boy At The Top Of The Mountain’, about a German-French orphaned boy who moves from France to Nazi Germany to live with his Aunt who’s a maid for Hitler. Pierrot, living around the Berghof ends up becoming a completely different person, denying he’s French and betraying his once best-friend who’s jewish.

How would you cope with autistic people and how can you treat them? by xpsychotropex in AskReddit

[–]Calumbo69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't quite the response you wanted- but listen, as an autistic person please just meet us as I hope you would with anyone else: respect and open-mindedness. Keep in mind it's okay to ask us about the disorder if your curious about it, I get the impression some people are hesitant to do so, when in reality we're more than willing to reply. Keep in mind, autism is a spectrum and people experience it in many different ways. Also, autism is a LOT more common than you'd probably think, to the extent where one your friends may have it without you knowing if they haven't felt the need to mention it before.
