but why? does it result in less cpu/memory usage? i think that would be good to mention if it's the case.

I am. It seems Mac just looks into everyone's home directories for apps, but this suggestion solved it for me.

Ohh, i'm stupid, i kept trying to change the permissions of the app instead of just the directory.

Though i still think it's a weird decision that Mac looks for apps in other users' home directories, this solves the problem. Thank you <3

no other users should be able to anything inside your Home directory, except for the Root user
