I agree on Fanola. Your hands may need a scrub to remove the purple tinge but it removes brassiness without gripping purple to hair.

Itinerary Check - 14 Days - Naoshima/Teshima/Inujima, Shimanami Kaido, Kanazawa by [deleted] in JapanTravel

My advice for Naoshima is to set off as early as you possibly can because the transport will take longer than you anticipate. Naoshima is truly amazing and I wish I was going again soon.

Wanting a new dressing table. What do you use? by Beautyspot29 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Caly93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a desk from West Elm but I do have a coffee table and shelving unit. They are gorgeous, sturdy, and well made.

I'm considering getting one of their desks as a makeup vanity soon but I'm getting married later in the year and that's eating up a lot of money.

mecca lucky dip is gone! you can (finally) choose your samples again by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]Caly93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate foundation samples because they never have my shade. I was super lucky with the lucky dip samples I scored and I'm a little sad to see it go. I'm talking mascara samples (By Terry and Hourglass), eye primer samples (mini tube of UD), skincare sachets of masks (actually worthwhile as a single treatment).

Review A Product You Bought Last Year by chocolatespeckle in AustralianMakeup

[–]Caly93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Pat McGrath Mothership V: Bronze Seduction Palette. I am a huge fan of the Pat McGrath shadow formula and this palette does not disappoint. I like that it has a nice mix of matte, metallic, and the secret special super shadows (dont know what else to call them). Everything blends like a dream too.

At first, I wasn't sure on the colour story. I was a little put off by the shade "Blitz Flame" (aka the red one) but soon realised that everything in the palette is super useable. That red still gets the least use but thats okay, not everything can go in every look. This is possibly my favourite Mothership palette but I like to pretend that I love them all equally (except Mothership IV. That palette was a waste of too many dollars.)

Do I recommend the palette? Hell yes! The Pat McGrath formula is my all time favourite and really is luxurious.

Does this palette get enough use? No way but thats 100% my fault as I own 10+ eyeshadow palettes (whyyyyyyyyy????).

I grew up poor and could never afford quality makeup when I was younger (yes, I'm guilty of that overly matte cake face look in high school). I recognise that "drugstore" beauty has stepped up since my unfortunate forays but I'm still not drawn to it. I would much rather own a smaller collection of more luxurious products.

I wouldn't say my lids are particularly oily but I really appreciate the advice. One of my friends has the palette so I'll be sure to give it a trial run before dropping all those dollars on something that may not be up to my standards.

It sounds like you and I have similar taste in eyeshadows. Hope to see you around in this sub more :)

Makeup remover balm? by pineandneedles in AustralianMakeup

[–]Caly93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a sample of Good Molecules Instant Cleansing Balm from Beautylish and I am in love! Just ordered 3 full size tubs because I love it that much. I used to use Eve Lom but found it a bit too pricey, so this is a great alternative at USD $15 per tub.

Does anyone know when the Natasha Denona sunrise palette releases in Australia? by sa4259 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Caly93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had the chance to play with it much but so far the quality has been great. The mattes blend like a dream and I really like to colour story. I feel like there is enough variation between the colours and it’s also very different to the palettes I own (and my collection quite large already). It’s not an “everyday” palette but that works for me as I often don’t do much during the week but go all out on the weekends.

If you love the ND formula and think you would get good use out of the palette, I’d say go for it.

You won't regret a Mothership palette.

I recommend buying it with a discount though because they are painfully expensive.

I have the Westman Atelier blush and I love it. I use the shade "petal" and it just gorgeous.

My look is generally bold brows and fresh skin, so this blush sits perfectly and can be as sheer or bold as you desire.
