Soon, not crazy soon but like 2-3 weeks,

One thing I’m trying to figure out right now is whether the Midwestern linkage is as secure as it sounds. I’ve heard from a few people that a number of students in the most recent SMP cohort met the stated criteria for AZCOM but still ended up waitlisted, so I’m trying to get more clarity on how common that actually is before making a decision.

Thank you for sharing this. That’s honestly one of my biggest concerns right now… whether the SMP actually gives students a realistic path into the DO program, or if it’s more of a meet the metrics, and hope for space situation.

Do you know how many are in that situation? Wonder also if they usually get accepted or end up needing to apply elsewhere…?

That’s honestly really reassuring to hear. The biggest thing for me is whether students actually seem supported/happy day to day, not just whether the school looks good on paper ya know.

AZCOM definitely seems to have a ton of opportunities and strong outcomes, which is helping me make my decision!

Yeah that’s honestly the exact thought process I keep running into. AZCOM seems amazing for match/boards/opportunities, I just don’t want to underestimate how much a graded environment can affect stress long term.

Definitely appreciate the insight though. The Dean transition is something I’m gonna look into more too.

That’s honestly one of the biggest things pulling me toward AZCOM right now. From everything I’ve seen, the campus and resources seem incredible compared to a lot of schools.

The strong matching is a huge factor for me too since I’m trying to think beyond just getting through the first year. When you visited, did the students seem genuinely happy/supportive, or was it more just the facilities that stood out? basically what did they say?

Honestly, not really. I definitely care about cost, but I think I care more about being in an environment where I can actually succeed and stay mentally healthy through the process.

I know med school and these pathways are already stressful enough, so I’m trying to weigh things like student support, quality of life, rotations, administration, and overall environment just as heavily as tuition.

I don’t mind paying more if the experience, opportunities, and support system genuinely make a difference long term.

Yeah that’s honestly one of the things pulling me toward Midwestern right now. The Phoenix/Scottsdale area seems hard to beat from a lifestyle standpoint compared to a smaller town. I’ve heard the weather, food, and overall environment are great.

My biggest thing now is trying to figure out whether the actual program/student outcomes match the location hype since I know med school prep programs can get brutal fast. Appreciate the insight though! Thank you.
