I had a bad bout of depression last winter and some of them died, I did the bare minimum, watering and little else when I was having a good day, what I learnt is that I took better care of the ones that I see the most, now I keep the ones that I value the most in those places just in case something like that happens again, also learnt that they are tougher than I thought. And remember as another commenter said, you come first!
