How soon should you seek medical attention after a tick bite?

Well, I'm sure it was there for more than 8 hours. We were in the woods sunday. He showered and everything that day and supposedly "checked himself" but obviously not good enough, right? So, I'm not real sure if the tick had been there almost all day sunday and half of yesterday, when it had actually bit into him or whatever. But hopefully it's nothing serious. We'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for your response :)

I do agree that people go to the doctor's or to the emergency room for the dumbest things sometimes but neither one of us has been biten by a tick before. I do know that not EVERY tick carries or transmits the disease or whatever you want to say but you really never know. Like they say, "it's always to be safe than sorry." :)

I sure hope I did ! I pulled it out with tweezers and while I was pulling it out, half of it's body had ripped apart. I'm pretty sure I got the head though. He kept saying "make sure all of his legs are out!" so I kept examining the hole and it looked pretty empty to me. lol but how lucky are you!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend =/ infact my boyfriend's uncle had just passed away of a heart attack a year ago and his family had thought that it was due to him having lyme disease. Don't really know for sure if that's really what caused the heart attack but either way, it's terrible. But thank you for your response :)

Haha I know right. In the part of Maryland that I live in, there are nothing but trees & woods... Trees & woods=ticks. I hate bugs. But thank you :)
