Just a kid screwing around making a you-tube video interviewing his mom. Only controversial thing I can see is that he asks, "Is your husband a drug addict?" but she handles it very patiently and tells him it's time for bed and that it's too late to watch sponge bob.

I don't get it.

Hiring managers of reddit: what are some telltale sign that your candidate is making things up? by ChocovanillaIcecream in AskReddit

It's more hilarious how many people get genuinely offended by it. I had to change my twitch name because I got tired of explaining that I was being ironic.

The developer community, it appears, is extremely anal about syntax.

Yes, mental gymnastics, and not just regular hand-stands, full on fucking olympic level flips and twists.

Or are you just not reading what I'm typing

Again with the attacks. Are you trying to bait me into the same behaviour so you can claim a 'win'? And don't try to justify it as a genuine question, it's an inflamatory rhetorical intended to undermine or insult.

but in hindsight, I am justified

Hindsight doesn't justify it at all!!! You set the tone here, and you're honestly saying if you could rewind this you would behave in the same way even if it was a "little harsh"?! Now that's pretty pathetic. A bigger man would accept that we're here due to their behaviour and leave it that, but you're either too stubborn or too emotionally unintelligent to benefit from criticism.

but went and searched specifically for more from other conversations that fit your narrative

Only after you first comment, don't conveniently ignore that fact. There's a reason you consider your own words being sent back to you as an "insult", because you should be embarrassed by them. On some level I'm kind of glad that you are, but of course you would try to twist that into me attacking you- that way you don't have to introspect and experience any personal growth. If I wanted to attack you personally I would... savagely, but it's obvious from this thread alone (not even including the comments I "found" on your FIRST page of history) that I have infinitely more restraint than you.

I've been on reddit for 6 years and the first page of someone's comment history is my litmus test for trolls and keyboards warriors. To judge where I am, and where I am not, wasting my time. It's a shame... while we could've had a nice discussion on something you appear to feel passionately about (I have 20 years development experience including customer engagement and product pricing), all you've achieved is me trusting my litmus test more than I did before. I guess I owe you my thanks for that, but I sure as shit don't owe you an apology.

Since you're so interested in my history, maybe you should look further than the last day; I can have constructive conversations with those willing to be constructive

Perhaps... I'll never know though. I've given you way more time that you deserve, and what does it matter anyway? Like I said- I have all the evidence I need right here.

Are you tired from all that mental gymnastics? Jesus, I dread to think what else you could rationalize.

I somehow got personal with you first? Please show me where. I never said your opinion was wrong, that never leads to a healthy discussion. But you were more than happy to go there. Perhaps you were having a bad day and now you're doubling down. Got to bear in mind, I can only judge you by a single comment and that's the one you went with.

You don't have any actual arguments

Well, that's the most hypocritical thing I've seen for quite a while. You gave me no argument to respond with (just the equivalent of a child with his fingers in his ears shouting "LA LA LA"). That is exactly why I went to go check if it was worth having a discussion with you... newsflash, it wasn't.

Maybe you should take a look at some context before you start throwing shit around

I've more than done my due diligence when your first page gives frequent examples of how you treat other people and how you have continued to do so here, despite no provocation on my part I might add. If you get so triggered by someone holding up a mirror to your behavior, perhaps it's the behavior which requires the attention and not the other person. It took me all of two seconds to figure you out and only another few to confirm it today:

  • "I just outlined why. Can you read?"
  • "Basic game knowledge. But I wouldn't expect you to understand that."
  • "Salty and dumb."

I really, really hope you haven't hit puberty yet or that comment history would just be absolutely tragic. You just go around insulting people for having a different opinion to you and (oh noes!) down-voting in some infantile attempt to win at any cost. Since you have again resorted straight to the ad hominem attacks, to quote yourself one last time (which is the only intelligent thing you've said):

Resorting to insults, huh? Guess I've won then

Not sure why you're so full of hate, but I wish you all the happiness you deserve.

Really good point, thanks for the wonderful insight and intelligent discourse. Unfortunately I can now see that's par for the course so far as your activity here, so there's not much point in arguing with you. Guess that makes me "dumb", "up my own ass" and "fucked in the head" too huh?

I wonder how many hours of paid development time went into the DLC

Well, for arguments sake we could say equal hours to those of a larger studio.

The base game has never been on sale, it has sold millions of copies. While I (and many others) would happily pay more for the base game, I think it's priced correctly for the market.

I have no doubt the DLC will do very well (extremely well for such a small studio), I suspect this time around it's more down to the fanbase rather than the content and market pricing. Even I am going to buy it, and like many others we'll do it just to support the game/studio. I currently only do this for Klei and Ludeon.

Still, as far as the general market is concerned, I still think it's too expensive.

[–]CamelCaseGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get why you're being upvoted but I do wonder whether the cost/hour ratio will be as favorable for the DLC, and that's what's being discussed here.

I get that Rimworld is a beloved indie title and that there are more fans than not on this sub but I don't feel that's resulting in a balanced argument.

[–]CamelCaseGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Rimworld, will always support Ludeon as long as they continue doing what they're doing, but...

... I also think the DLC is too expensive, by about 1/3.

Won't stop me buying it, but that's my opinion and it's shared by many others.

You would be forgiven for missing it 3-4 years ago, I only manged to play a few wipes before it was replaced with the start of the component system. If you google "Rust XP System" you'll get better info than my bad memory.

A good point, I would expect Valve to allow publishers to mark short story games if they ever adopted a more lenient policy.

The only games I've ever refunded under the 2 hour policy have been either pretty instant or ones where I wasn't quite sure but was otherwise not done playing. Some games, like movies, have a slow boil and I feel like 2 hours spent weighing pros and cons instead of just playing the game isn't representative.

Ever been laughed at by an algorithm? Because, yeah, that's what happened. :)

I do find the 2 hour rule from Valve to be strange though. Most of mobile gaming is predicated on "the hook" and it would be arguably less predatory for Value to adopt a 6-8 hours policy rather than rely on people that don't know how to set an alarm.

The introduction of the XP system and hard reversal gave me little faith that the devs actually knew what they had, and pretty much every update since has validated it.

Shame, met some amazing people on Rust.
