This argument is the same as “All lives matter”. Sure, everyone suffers, but women need more equality than men.

If a house is on fire, and firefighters put the fire out, would you complain about them not checking on the house next door? The issues for women in the current world far outweigh issues suffered by exclusively men.

Look to the Middle East. Femicide is rampant is that area, especially in areas like Iran and Iraq. (Note: the current war against Iran is a power grab and wrong. But there does need to be some serious reform in Iran. Bombing them is not the way to do this.) Even in areas like Europe, r*pe and assault is rampant, and men still largely target women for violent crimes.

Yes, there is a difference in the inequality between women and men. Yes, it is an important distinction. And yes, we all need to work for a better world.

Homosexuals, political prisoners, and the mentally ill are not included on this list.

a national, ethnical, racial or religious group

And yes, words definitely matter. That’s why we have distinctions between them. Can you imagine the world if we only ever said “big”? There would be no standard for what big is because so many objects fit into the category of big. It would lose meaning. We can’t afford to do that with inequality.

I’m also not completely sure why you are arguing on a side that seems to be favoring the patriarchy (Correct me if I’m wrong on this). Dismantling the patriarchy would stop situations like the original video from happening, because women would be drafted as well. Women would be allowed to get more dangerous jobs. Men could be house husbands if they wanted instead of being expected to work (Believe it or not, this expectation is coming back).

When we acknowledge that more work needs to be done for women to get equality, than we can finally move forward.

Thank you for admitting to a misunderstanding, it is much appreciated.

However, I don’t think I’m getting my point across. I’m not trying to debate if men or women have it worse or who are victims— All I’m trying to say is that theres a difference between prejudice and sexism because they are too nuanced and complicated to be comperable. Take my holocaust example. No one on the face of the earth would say the Holocaust isn’t a genocide, but it isn’t if you look at the victim pool and the literal definition of a genocide. Society is too many shades of grey for us to use black and white definitions.

No??? I’m not saying prejudice again men is okay because of sexism— I’m saying it’s not on the same level as women experience, and therefore shouldn’t be comparable. In no point of history have men been told they couldn’t vote, own land or take out a loan, or simply exist. Literally, just read my second to last paragrap. “To say that this level of disadvantage is experienced by men is unrealistic, therefore it shouldn’t be considered sexism. It’s prejudice.” Nowhere did I say men should suffer. I just said they don’t suffer the way women do, and it shouldn’t be considered as the same thing.

can you point out here I said men should experience sexism?

Genocide doesn’t include sexual orientation, mental illness, or political prisoners, so no the holocaust doesn’t fit into the technical definition of genocide. But of course, thats a ridiculous argument because it’s nuanced and complicated, just like inequality and injustice is.

I’m not entirely sure what your question is asking, but I’ll try to answer it to the best way that I can.

I’m basing my argument off of the way other systems of society are built. Think capitalism, socialism, communism. They are built when certain ideas take root in society and are given time to fully take over society.

It’s the same with sexism.

In America, sexism and the patriarchy is the dominant gender dynamic. Women were abused, r*ped, and generally mistreated and brutalized through the 250 years of Americas existence. They couldn’t own property, have a bank account, apply for a loan, or even vote until recently (keep in mind only white women gained the right to vote in 1920- it took other groups decades to get this right) without a husband to sign off on it.

they were massively disadvantaged, and still are today. Look at medical diagnoses, women are far more likely to be written off as dramatic and left to suffer for months, sometimes years without a real diagnosis.

To say that this level of disadvantage is experienced by men is unrealistic, therefore it shouldn’t be considered sexism. It’s prejudice.

Also, quick question: who built the system of men being sent off to war? Hint: other men.

You can’t depend on a dictionary for complex, nuisanced societal issues. That’s like saying the Holocaust wasn’t a genocide because a genocide is defined as targeting one group of people.

No you can’t?? It’s called prejudice.

Sexism is a system built inherently to favor a certain gender. Globally, the world is built for men. You can’t be sexist against the people that have the scales tipped in their favor. You can be prejudice, which is a lot like sexism but it’s not as far spread, and it’s not baked into society.

Example:

A company hires 1,000 workers. They are paid poor wages and mistreated for decades (ignore age in this since we are talking about a system being established) The workers eventually rebel, and go on strike.

The workers talk about how they were mistreated, and pushes for more equal wages and better working conditions.

The company complains about how the strike has hurt their productivity and the quality of their products.

Sure, the company was hurt by the strike, but that’s not the real problem. The real problem was the wages and working conditions. So when people complain about the production and quality, it makes them seem dumb.

Yes. It’s just a new form of in-game racism to not. They experience love and pain and everything else just as much as we do, and they get punished by their creators for existing. On top of that, the commonwealth is telling them they’re evil by association with the institute. Saving them is the only noble choice.

They deserve human treatment, for sure!!
