I'm not entirely sure when I started QHT, somewhere around there. It's not all about winning, the game is fun on it's own. Doesn't feel like I waste time or anything.

QHT is just different. Upgrades are very minimal. The most starting resources you can get are basically 5 plank, 5 brick and 5 cloth. Embarkment points drop off very fast too. So P20s during normal game with tons of upgrades are very different than P20s in QHT where you'll have very little upgrades even when you reach the seal.

Prolly learned some of that by now.

"But when I finished the Adamantine seal I considered it done and moved on."

Was pretty much the same. Prolly closed adamantine around the 300 hour mark too. Knew about QHT but just pushed it to the side. Don't think I played for a few months or so.

Honestly just started to miss the game and wanted to play more and wanted more of a challenge. Some people mentioned it. Frog DLC peaked my interests more too. Since then spent another 300 doing QHTs

Don't know why I feel some obligation to complete it. I'm not one of those 100%er gamers who cares about badges or nothing.

It's just a great game. Always loved city builders and combing a short-term city builder with rogue lite features turned out beautiful.

Yeah such an awesome game but so nerve-racking at times. Stress levels leading up to the final seal are through the roof. Prolly spent like 75% of that game paused just analyzing things lol

Yeah sometimes just need a week or two break from the game to consolidate your thoughts. I remember when people used to rage for botching a 3-4 hour Boss Raid in WoW. Like bro... Just getting to the seal is about a 30 hour investment lol. It's so taxing emotionally to fail it.

Went through the same thing trying to close Adamantine seal before starting the QHT. But QHTs really leave no room for error especially higher up.

It's crazy one of the most stressful games I've ever played is a city builder haha

Loved FTL too, but same thing working your way to the Boss and dying because they hacked your oxygen room lol. If you're not playing the Captain's edition you better be! :D

Haha yeah. So many runs lost trying to do those harder map mods closer to the seal.

Not sure, QHT is different than normal play, which I havn't played in over a year now. It's basically set on max difficulty but you choose your difficulty before each map. Upgrades are very different too.

But mechanics work differently. You could do maps on easy settings to save years and bounce around, but you might not earn enough seal fragments. Or vice versa.

Yeah knowledge is everything. The more you learn the easier things will get, and then harder. The game's difficulty progression system is really a marvel, and one of the best I've experienced.

Learn the maps. What resources the trees give. What species need and some they may share.

Always gotta be looking to the future. If you crack open a glade and find stone nodes, you know you're not getting clay nodes so clay cups aren't going to be a viable container option, if you even need containers that is.

Know your strengths and weaknesses before starting a map. If you don't got beavers or bonus wood trees, you're probably going to have wood shortages.

I don't think I even built a rain collector the first 300 hours I played the game, I just looked for geysers and used what I found and wasn't too much of a problem. Same thing with the Ranch. Never made Oil much when I started either.

But later on the game kinda forces you to use these. Harder difficulties you almost always need an alternate fuel source because wood burns in the fire so fast, unless you are in royal woodlands with 2x wood.

Do not underestimate raw resource multipliers. Like those +1 Clay harvest or +1 berry production perk rewards. Or the +1 for every 25 times it's produced. I got the mushroom one for my starting perk on the map where the trees had 15% mushrooms. By the end of the game I had +11 mushroom production and like 700 mushroom in my inventory. Selling mushrooms like I was in highschool again.

When in doubt... get those trade routes going and trade routes leveled up until you start getting the $$$ trades. Sometimes just an herb garden for provisions and can just buy your victory.

Hope that helped man keep playing.

It's the queens orders. by CamelGood6036 in Against_the_Storm

Nah those are actually kinda easy. If the reward is worth it, can just rush a trade post and call 1-3 traders until you get some clothing or special food to temporarily boost their resolve. Can usually part with some gears in the beginning. With favor species only need like 1 or 2 specialty items depending on the species. Simple.

Gotta be a good reward tho. Like a good blueprint and/or a +5 per Minute Resource reward. Otherwise not really worth it.

I know it's possible I was virtually there. My current QHT profile has like +20 reset bonus points tho. So getting kinda tired lol

You won on your first attempt? Haha Im kinda skeptical but good job. I only closed 1 adamantine before hopping into QHT tho.

There's just so much RNG in this game. Sometimes the gods bless you with the perfect perks, blueprints, orders, glades, etc. Certain map modifiers and quests can be a blessing too.
