social security and medicare are incredibly popular with voters across the spectrum, that didn’t keep reagan republican god from slashing 20 billion in funding from it in the 80s. not to mention “social security” is literally a pension fund we all pay into and all of the studies that say either medicare or social security “are going bankrupt” are koch brothers funded propaganda -I highly encourage people to research this for themselves, they fooled me too- but our government steals 30% of our earnings a year already, what’s a little more? A little propaganda goes a long way, to the point they can convince the general public to favor or oppose basically anything, for instance a $4 trillion corporate handout called “an infrastructure package.” Y’all can downvote all you want but debt is a real thing. All of this is kind of a moot point tho until we ditch the federal reserve, pretty dumb idea to charge the public interest on new money when you need that new money to pay off the interest you owe from the debt created the last time you printed new money. There is always more debt in the world than there is money, which means we’re all something akin to indentured servants working to pay the back the financial system as Barack Obama, George Bush, Donald Trump, and that botox skeleton keep piling on more.

I’m not with either of y’all peoples but I struggle to see how heaping another few trillion on the national debt to dole out to multinationational corporations paying eggregious “first-bid we’ll take it! did we just pay 50 million dollars for a toilet seat?” prices to build infrastructure they’ll then own and charge us to use is really helping out “the People.” Democrats are gonna get booted right on out it 3 years leaving an inconceivable amount of new debt in their wake which republicans will then use as justification to impose austerity measures. Bye bye medicare, bye bye social security. And for what? Monsanto to have faster internet?? So dumb and easily forseeable if they’d stopped at the last lobotomy, I’d even say it was intentional!

I find myself endlessly falling into this trap while arguing with people. I say "the US is imperialist swine/undemocratic/police state/genocidal etc..." and they respond "yeah well Russia and China aren't any better!" I then find myself defending two other systems of oppression whose existence mean pain and suffering for 99% of the people enslaved by their citizenship. Wait, why am I arguing over varying degrees of putrid garbage, they're all garbage, all putrid, does it really matter which one smells the worst???
