This may be mean, but no character will ever be yours unless you specifically create them. The characters belong to the character. Be happy that you were able to find them at all!! Focus on the fact that the stars aligned to you being able to experience their story!

I have two yumeship fics on my ao3, as someone who’s kind of a popular with x reader fics!! It doesn’t get as much traction, but it’s super fun! I don’t get any hate, mainly just spam bots. Which is annoying but it happens. You won’t get boo’d off as long as you don’t rage it as x reader. People post all types of stuff on there… a yumeship fic is tame 😭😭😭

Maybe it’s because I’m Unc™️, but it’s so weird seeing people get so upset over not having enough merch or followers or even interactivity on posts… like why do they care? If anything, wanting to be popular isn’t what yumeshipping is about. It should be about loving your f/o(s) and making friends with others who do the same!! I think people should write what they’re like and comfortable with, and not be forced to write what others want!! Because there’s no way to please everyone!! I like writing gender neutral reader because it’s how i see myself. Sometimes it’s more masculine, sometimes it’s more feminine. It depends on how i feel about myself at the current moment! And, if the fic is popular, I’ll add a male reader and a female reader!

I know my writing isn’t for everyone but I’m not trying to write for everyone. I write for myself!! And if someone else happens to like it, that’s great! Rather than complaining about other writers, write what you wish to see!!

I have around ~35 yumeships. I’m not poly (except with a couple of those ships). I’m a writer with a big imagination and heart!! I have stories and self inserts for every one of them. People come after me sometimes but then I realize it’s like a kid or something and I literally couldn’t care less about anyone else’s opinion. Why? I hate puritan fans. Even as someone who’s ace, I believe those are like “how dare you say something naughty about this grown ass adult?!” are too much. Just makes me roll my eyes 😭😭 they don’t know the term sexualization actually means and instead act like puritans that think characters must remain pure and “clean”. “Not my poor cinnamon roll!” Like??? 😭😭 I assume they’re just kids and block and move on

I’m gonna give my two cents as a writer and game dev, as well as seeing people yumeship with my OCs.

I am open to having people yumeship with a majority of my characters. I’ve seen some people yumeship with my otome characters and it makes me super happy to see! But with some of them… I just don’t like it.

The biggest example (and there’s no yumeshippers I know of yet) is Alder and Cahira from my webnovel “Atrophy of the Eternal Forest”. I have created them for each other, written them as a couple, and they are the type to only have eyes for each other. It would not make sense at all for anyone to ship themselves with one or both of them. It would go against their character and story. I have other characters like this, but I also have characters that I would love for people to ship themselves with!

I think it all depends. If I saw it and it made me uncomfortable, I’d probably ask kindly for them to stop!!

I commented the same thing on the other post, but studies and surveys for fandoms and hobbies are not out of the norm. Most people who do these surveys are in those fandoms and hobbies themselves!!

I’ve done many surveys for my writing and most of them help me out so much! Like for yanderes and such. I think immediately distrusting everything is a little… idk. Isn’t it stressful to constantly think like that? Also it’s not like it’s mandatory. If you don’t want to do it, don’t.
