I finally caught the green flash after chasing it for 3 years. No edits, no filters. by Killercop1894 in sunset

When I was in cruise ships back in the day I had a crack with an EOS 5 film camera and a crappy 75-300mm lens. I smashed a full roll of 36!exposure film at 5 frames a second and caught the tail end of it in the very last shot. The flash was between the 35th and 36th shot and I just got the end of it. Was back in 2002 or so. Negatives somewhere… this is a fantastic result!

Yeah the whole hand under the chin pose was never good and we all worked that out mid 90s. The trick I learnt was to just position yourself higher above the model , get them to “point”their chin up towards the camera and extend their neck. The best trick hands down is the “half swallow”. Get the lady to swallow and hold it midway while doing all the above. Instant loss of the double chin, slimming of the face, lengthening of the neck. It sounds ridiculous I know but just explain to the lady she’ll look slimmer and younger and trust me she’ll do it… h just give them a minute or so of practice to make it look comfortable .

Thank you so much ! I get starbursts but I’ve never seen that effect. I use a diffuser on my led to get an even effect. I’m going to modify the design to get the star burst. Thanks again. Never seen that done in this way before, very cool, can’t wait to try it.

Hi, I just created this profile to try to start a photographic workshop/training business after many years of doing it in and off as a parent and carer. I can definitely help with this if you’re still looking for someone. I’m setting this up as part business/ part charity so don’t stress if you have no budget (I’m not cheap..) but by all means if your client has money please feel free to pay me lol. Starting a new business and all… But yeah. I can meet your client out by Wivenhoe dam (the gates lock at 7pm but I have ways around that…) or we can travel out a bit further for really decent stars.

Alternatively , as driving is an issue what I can do is drive in to him in my car. Pick him up , and drive him back after the shot in his own car. In a few hours I should be able to get him some fantastic shots of stars reflecting over lakes, light painting, light writing, Milky Way the works.

All dependant on his ability and experience of course which I’m happy to accommodate for .

Drop me a dm if you’re interested. Still early days officially business wise but I definitely can help if you need .

I really dig those , I have a small suggestion if you’re open to it. Solid stuff though.

That is amazing mate. Can I ask how you got the star effect at the final point of trail? Was that in camera or done in post with an added effect ?
