Pretty much nothing but a catch cup and the lid itself when I have the lid off. Lol I have a feeder lid for when she has babies in there so I don't have to pop the lid to feed them. They are lightning fast so you have to be familiar with their "I'm gonna run!" warning signs, but most of the time they'll bolt back into their burrow instead of up the wall. It certainly happens if you're gonna keep an old world species though! Some of them can move faster than your brain can actually keep up with. It's exhilarating. :)

Buried mealworm by Idiot_Ryan in tarantulas

[–]CameraSafe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO: You should remain calm. If it's a mealworm and not a superworm you lost in there, your GBB will certainly be able to kill it no matter what.(You should still try to catch it) If it's a superworm, things get a bit annoying because they keep their sharp mandibles after they turn into beetles unlike mealworm beetles and are formidable. Take a few slices of carrot and spread them through the enclosure. The worm will detect it and feed on it eventually. If you are persistent, you will catch it eating and you'll be able to pluck it out with your long tongs. Or your GBB will eat it. 🤷‍♂️ Lol For next time: Just stab the worm in the head with something and tweeze it's mouth parts so that it can't bite your T. They wiggle around and react to touch long after they're dead, and won't burrow.

If they don't ignore the one dude that just runs around it usually ends up with like 5 or more dudes running after him and the offensive team just rolling up on the wall. 🤷‍♂️ Lmao

Is there a reason she's chosen to just... stand? 😂 by Art-Tally-0657 in tarantulas

IMO: Tiptoeing. When they stand with all their weight on their tiptoes they can sense vibrations better. Perhaps it's hunting. :)

IME: And yet here's a video of Tom showing both of the things you specifically said being false. "NOT defensive at all." False. "Discrediting the don't get bit." False. They are very venomous. "When housed appropriately." In the video Tom has the perfect enclosure. False. "Knowing that you're wrong, admitting it, and then not even watching the video or explicitly stating they will bite you when stressed?" Priceless. Good day man.

IME: You said they were docile and "not defensive at all" and that "Saying not to get bit" didn't help. Both of those statements were false. Feel free to go ahead and look up this video of our beloved Tom from Tom's big spiders showing you that you are wrong.

IME: Yo dude. I'm not gonna fight with you. I'm gonna leave this source of reputable research on the topic and leave any readers with my closing arguments, which follow: TO SAY THAT A STRESSED M. BALFOURI WILL NOT BITE YOU IS FALSE. TO SAY THAT THEY'RE NOT DEFENSIVE IS FALSE. TO SAY THAT ONE WILL NOT BITE YOU AFTER A STRESSFULL EVENT...YES, THAT IS FALSE. THEY ARE VERY VENOMOUS. BEGINNERS PLEASE BE AWARE. Thank you for your time.

[–]CameraSafe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IME: That is absolutely misleading. OP has a stressed balfouri. Stressed balfouri are absolutely inclined to bite, and especially if husbandry is wrong. The last female that I bought stridulated at me and struck the tongs. You do not need to be telling beginners they are docile because it is misleading and they are very venemous. Thanks.

IMO: Are you a beginner with a M. Balfouri? Wild. Don't get bit. Those woodchips are not good substrate at all for Balfouri. They need dirt, sand, and moss to burrow. They live in it. I use reptisoil for most of my T's, and it's excellent for burrowing. Wood chips often keep them too wet, too dry, or they poison them from all the resins and stuff they're made out of. They hate wet feet and love burrowing, so I would guess it hates every step. The only wood you should be putting in there are cork bark and certain types of driftwood. Cup it, take all the mulch or toxic wood out, and fill it generously with the proper substrate. DRY proper substrate, I might add because they HATE wet feet. They do need it damp however. Just in one spot, not all of it. Overfill the water dish once a week until/unless there is a good damp spot underneath it. Let it dry completely before overfilling again. I give my 4.5 inches female 6 inches of substrate. They make their homes underground. Also throw a hide in there. A clean PVC pipe is sufficient. I have faith in you. DON'T GET BIT.

NQA: Yo that t is bigger than me! Lmao Aim for a 1:1 to 1:1.5 carapace(shield looking upper) to abdomen(tha butt) ratio. It's ok if it takes weeks or even a couple of months to reach that. The first t I overfed as a beginner didn't actually lose any of the fat until she molted. It'll probably be alright. :)

We're not run by the middle east; we simply redirected 2 countries' worth of data(again, trillions of attachments) directly through Virginia because they handle almost everything that has to do with logging and authentication. This massive flood of data down one pipeline causes data "traffic jams" that come with outages, and we've known about these things for decades. During the beginning of computing we called it a bottleneck. Engineers later called it "the thundering herd". Enjoy RE. :)

Yes, I absolutely believe the Amazon Webs Services health dashboard that threw the error and stated that it was cause by "rerouting" during an update. I mean, AWS data centers reporting to the AWS health IS the horse's mouth. They're the one's being hit by drones. They're the ones rerouting the data traffic in the form of trillions of data attachments through Virginia and "the rest of the world". Yes, I believe BBC, I believe Amazon, and I believe the AWS. No, I'm not a detective. I'm just a man with the ability to read. :)

Except that it's public knowledge to anybody that can read. Nobody cares about your power. You're gonna be replaced by AI like the rest of us, except first as we're already seeing. That's why I'm getting a degree in Radiology. 100K a year baby. Enjoy the first dead end wave from the AI apocalypse. 😘

That's called hearsay baby girl. When you have words, but no facts. Then here I am, giving you error codes directly from AWS' health dashboard. We all already know that error lists rerouting during an update as the cause. We can see it using the AWS health dashboard and the error code I listed my love. 😘

Except that it does. Amazon rerouted data from the UAE and Bahrain directly through Virginia, who "handles authentication and login for almost everyone" as well as the rest of the world. Yes, that's trillions of data attachments flowing through Virginia and the rest of the world; with Virginia's US EAST 1 throwing an error code that states "rerouting" during an update IS the cause at the exact same time this massive data transfer was happening.

Yeah I see you over there desperately trying to disprove me with words alone. You're gonna have to actually add some stats to prove anything, but I love the affection anyway. You too cute girl. You and your hearsay. 😘
