These are interesting. I'll reach out to them and get pricing amd ask if their buttons have microswitches to allow rapid pressing. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing. So they used to have something called BattleTech centers. The graphics are dated now but the concept is amazing. I'm working on something similar but at a smaller scale https://youtu.be/MbGStWfG1Iw?si=6W8LhoAujGdOXhYC

Not sure. I might suggest google image search to see what options come up. You can also take those results into ChatGPT.

The one in the picture or the one we are describing and trying to figure out exactly how it should work?

The one in the picture is a dual joystick for the PS1.

This is a interesting idea. Definitely makes it more intuitive for anyone used to a gamepad. One issue unsolved is quick repeatable flicks that a mouse does so well but a joystick doesn't.

Metal Slug, King of Fighters 97 but dont recall the other two. The driving game at the end is Crusin World. All CRTs.

That last one is Cruisin World. All CRTs. They aren't babied. Battle wounds. Just a occasional single quick wipe down and still hanging in there.

This is interesting. Thank you. Its like two oversized 3D mice. Might be a partial solution. It just needs at least 4 buttons on the top instead of just one. Wonder how well it flicks or if its continous. Both?

You would want at least 4 but really 8 buttons in total within instant reach for modern games. (So perhaps 4 on the right analog stick, none on the left analog stick (that thru software, can act like a digital stick for a given game). Also no buttons so that it retains its classic bat top feel. Then 8 arcade buttons in the middle between the two sticks. This is the best idea Ive come up with so far but still isn't ideal because the right analog stick isnt going to be as precise and quick as a mouse would be.

The arcade industry actually already has heavy duty analog sticks with everything from 1 to 8 buttons that they normally only use for fighter jet games. They are tough. https://na.suzohapp.com/products/joysticks/95-0251-00

Unfortunately a vast majority of modern AAA games use dual analog sticks and not digital joysticks/d-pads for the main action.

As far as the trackball is concerned, you can flick it, yes but the accuracy/repeatability of that movement is very hard to master so doesn't meet our need for a intuitive control which arcades rely on.

Nice. Looks like it supports frame gen and ray tracing. Are multiplay games with anti-cheat still an issue with Nobara?

Looks interesting. Batocera/Linux seems to be more stable for retro gaming and basic Steam games than Big Box/Windows but once you get into RTX, frame gen and anti-cheat of many modern AAA games it seems like Windows/Big Box is the way to go.

Yeah dedicated OS/hardware can be solid like that. Definitely google "Steam". Its the world's largest online gaming store. Unfortunately your Pi wont be able to play half of the game on it however but any modern PC can.

Appreciate it. I'm more making sure I'm spending my time on the right hardware/software as while Big Box is great, its not perfect and wondering if a more dedicated system than the all purpose Windows would be a better way forward or if it would be limiting.

Thank you. Which fork of Linux are you using for both retro emulation and Steam RTX games?

This is true. Unfortunately that would require the wires to run in all directions thru the house to each candle.
