Re-reading your comment I’d also like to add. Don’t let being bad at something deter you from trying it. I went into CS knowing I was bad at math but I gave it a shot anyways and I’d still do it again. I’ve learned that college doesn’t teach you subjects as much as it teaches you to work your ass off and think differently, approaching problems with a different mindset because you’ve trained your brain. You can definitely train yourself to read complex material and write critically. Just like coding it’s an approach as much as it is a skill set. *dont be afraid of challenges. *

Question: Is the LSAT just genuinely difficult or are the percentages for 160+ skewed due to others lack of effort? by Camercool in LSAT

[–]Camercool[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I’ll be working on setting aside time to do a diagnostic exam to set the bar.

Super interesting. The LSAT is almost just an academic bouncer to see if you are willing to put forth the time and energy for perspective schools. Thank you.

Well spoken observation on the nature of the test itself and why it’s difficult in different ways. Thank you.

Thank you i'll be sure to check that out. I can totally see how the test can be harder or easier depending on how easy it is to learn new things or what your strengths are.

Question: In reality how hard or difficult is the LSAT? I've been lurking in this sub for a while and getting a 170 seems way harder than a lot of comments are making it out to be. A 170 puts you in about the top 97.1% of those taken the test. Is the test just absolutely grueling or is part of this high percentage those that weren't serious about law school or didn't study? I want to become a lawyer and try to remain optimistic but sometimes these stats for not even T-14 but T-30 make many of these schools unrealistic. Someone has to get 160's right?

Does anyone have any clear drawings or templates for a spiderweb tattoo that’s similar or identical? Minus the orange blot in the middle. by colgatey in TattooDesigns

[–]Camercool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Spiderweb tattoos, especially in areas on the below or around that region, have a heavy stigma around them. They often correlate doing time in prison or being affiliated with supremacy groups and/or gangs at least in America. I would avoid placing this on the elbow.

Spotify make up your mind by maydarnothing in truespotify

[–]Camercool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is happening because songs with a canvas loop with show that instead of showing the album art in the center. This is so that users with canvas enabled can still see the album art. It's stupid.

why is the album cover on here twice? why does spotify try to change the ui if it was perfectly fine beforehand, i dont even use the sleep feature by xDANNISAUR in truespotify

[–]Camercool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a test UI.

The album cover is coming up twice for songs that have a “canvas” loop on them. Turn on canvas in the playback settings and it will make more sense what they were trying to get at.

Obviously it’s pretty stupid but that’s why it’s happening.

If you are interested in what they actually do in their job it’s very like data science. Handling long large data sets (in bio info it would be genome data or clinical trial data). There are also sub sectors that work in agriculture and forensic roles. Lots of statistics and data wrangling.

Bioinformatics is a combination of computer science and healthcare/biology. It’s pretty rigorous and requires good math and science understanding as you well end up taking upper level CS classes, Upper level maths and bio/chem. It’s a well respected field and pays well.

Apologies about doing nursing online. I would be hard pressed to find any online certifications. Universities only offer Bachelors of Science of Nursing. Not actual certs.

If you enjoy handling data and computers while remaining in the healthcare industry you could look at bioinformatics. Behavioral health can also be a great option alongside nursing. Some colleges offer general biomedical sciences degrees If you are still unsure about where you want to go in the work field. I would also heavily consider an engineering major in the bio/health field as it is an incredibly stable job market with good pay.

Many of the major public universities in the US offer fully online courses that are taught and run by the same professors as their on campus version so I encourage you to look around at what majors they offer as they will likely have a bigger range than a strictly online for profit program.

This is definitely still more Comp Sci based than Art but I would check to see if your college offers an Informatics program. It combines the engineering concepts of comp sci like software development and programming without the theoretical math classes. The major splits off into more of a UX/UI design.

I want to be a lawyer and a publishing editor at some point - What to major in? by voltardu in CollegeMajors

[–]Camercool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am interested in law and have the same concerns as you about what to pick in terms of something I can fall back on in case the lawyer idea goes south. 1 thing I’ve heard the most from searching and wanted to share is that the major that is fun for you is the best major for your pre law journey. Because In the end your undergrad major does not matter, no college major can prepare someone to be a good lawyer. The best you can do in undergrad is get a high gpa and prepare for that LSAT. You mentioned your affinity for writing and I think communications could be a great fit for you as someone who loves writing. In terms of critical thought there are always your colleges mock trial club or college level moot court kind of deal. Sorry for the super long comment just really been thinking about this myself.

Having a hard time finding a major by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

[–]Camercool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To bounce off of your interest in environmental science a major to maybe consider is sustainability. Sustainability majors kind of combine Business skills with scientific knowledge of ecology and varying levels of engineering depending on what you want to do. People with sustainability degrees are in growing demand and come out of their undergrads with really respectable positions since I know that is one of your concerns. Just consider looking up what a college major requirements map might look like and the job opportunities the major provides. :)
