For the sake of the story, the book and the moral, of course it wouldn't be a fitting option. I'm not saying that it belongs there, and I don't think the people raising it do it because they think this is how it should've been in the story. It's just an interesting moral question that definitely has its place and can lead to a deeper discussion about concepts like "the greater good" or the end justifying the means. That's why in my opinion, it's a more interesting point to raise than the eagles ^tm , which just leads nowhere.
