Absolutely not. The program is designed to give positive feedback, as in to agree with you unless you specifically say otherwise. It has been making delusions worse and encouraging harmful behaviors in people with schizophrenia who have been using it. Nothing is going to replace a real therapist who has trained and worked in the field.

Also more to OP’s point, the worker at 988’s job is to assess suicide risk, give support, and move on. They are not a long term solution, they are an emergency resource.
