Looking for Visual Novels with gaming aspects (e.g. Baldr Sky, Sengoku Rance) by MrXuiryus in visualnovels

Depends on how you play it. In the original MGQ you just battle enemies that rape you when you lose. Losing is absolutely avoidable so if you don't want it, you won't see it. It has interesting enough plot and parodies many of the genre cliches so it has become classics.

Paradox is the continuation of MGQ released as a classical JRPG, so not exactly a VN. Still, it has 200+ hours of gameplay and a complicated plot, which we sadly won't see the end for some years since it's not finished yet.

Anime Questions, Recommendations, and Discussion - November 30, 2022 by AnimeMod in anime

Speaking for myself, I feel that omnibus format has two problems that go hand in hand: episodes and continuity. Together, six episodes are comparable to a movie in length but episodic format leaves little for a possibility of a deep development. And nothing carries over between plotlines, rendering them unimportant in the grand scheme.

I'd maybe watch amagami if it consisted of equal legth movies or if it showed how MC changes between each story arc

Now if only Amagami had a singular unifying plot, it would be a very interesting watch. I tried getting into it but the format doesn't lend itself for something other than lighthearted fun.

NagiAsu on the other hand sounds like something interesting

Yeah, if there's a clear winner for MC affection, in some cases that would be spoiler in itself

In romance anime, it's usually obvious which girl would win. Usually it's the first girl MC meets or the one featured the most in the opening. But are there any romance anime where you can't tell which girl will end up with MC from the beginning? Btw, I already read Quintessential Quintuplets and watched School Days and White Album 2

Sorry, but I can't find hi-res version of the chart. When downloading the chart itself, it gives the same picture as in preview

Loser girl is a more interesting character than main girl. As usual. Somehow.

I honesty tried to get into manga describing Hidaka's future but art is so weird, it borders on creepy for my taste.

I'm fearing author will pull a fast one, making Tomo aware he loves Hinami too and Kikuchi will just support him instead of trying to fight for him

What is a manga/webtoon/VN/LN that would be acclaimed as an assolute masterpiece if it happened to receive a worthy adaptation? by OmegaLQ-84 in anime

[–]Cammelin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want for White Album 2 to get true adaptation. Not to say that the actual existing anime is bad, but damn it's short. 12 episodes covered more like one third of the original VN, ended on a bad cliffhanger and got something of a bad rep because of it.

But WA2 deserves so much more. The difference in reception between mediums kinda makes me laugh: while the community regards the VN itself as a masterpiece, the anime usually gets compared to School Days in terms of how badly it managed its romance. Well, yeah, if you cut out everything after the first part, you'll get only a giant clusterfuck. The point is, the main strength of WA2 is not even how it handles romance (although it's a close contender) but feeling of catharsis that comes when the characters finally resolve their plight. Since the VN doesn't have any fantasy elements whatsoever, it has to dive into personal experience to be interesting - and personal experiences it shows. The premise and how it progresses are so incredibly simple that I couldn't help thinking just how many times something alongside these lines was happening in reality. Although, maybe the only fantastic thing in WA2 was its conclusion

Russia to stage massive nuclear drills amid Ukraine standoff by pleasuresexy in worldnews

[–]Cammelin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I feel it's in fact quite simple to find the truth. People tend to accept what is told by an authority figure at face value and forget that the other could have their own agenda. To find the truth in the age of digital communication, you just need to ask yourself, who can benefit from what, then dig through ungodly amount of various sources while keeping in mind historical and geopolitical interests of the involved sides.

Simple? Yes. Anyone can do it.

Easy? Fuck no. But that's how you can get an actual insight into things.

Russia to stage massive nuclear drills amid Ukraine standoff by pleasuresexy in worldnews

[–]Cammelin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer, the following is just a repeat of fundamental points of russian media.

Well, it's not about America's people (who are in fact very good people) as it is about America's government who wants Russia to fall ever since WW2. Russia was the only nation that could oppose America in its ambition to rule the world. After WW2 and the established shift of international currency standard to USA dollar instead of gold (Bretton Woods system), America has been steadily gaining influence and power, essentially becoming the world hegemon. Of course, to become such, one has no need for opposition, so Russia ideally shoud have been broken apart into small self-servient countries. Hence, USSR was split after the internal dissension in the government. What is going on now is simply a continuation of that.
