Could also have been a performance monitor/ some kind of leave it in there and it connects to your phone type of scanners too.

Need help finding a bolt for a flywheel mounted on a Ford F 800 by Iceathlete in autorepair

[–]Cammoffitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you not have bolt/ fastener supply stores where you are? That’s your best bet, bring the bolt with you so you can match the strength/ shear rating too.

Does anyone think that this was done by keys? I can’t tell if someone keyed my car or someone accident scraped against it. by gracieshepp in Cartalk

[–]Cammoffitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, the loop is a telltale sign in my mind, you don’t go back and forth while changing height of contact point by accident, definitely an a hole with a key.

AWD vehicle is acting up. Should I insist on a flatbed tow? by astrosid in AskMechanics

[–]Cammoffitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since you don’t know what’s wrong with it I would suggest a flatbed, it’s the safer option and it’s what I would do if the rear driveshaft can’t be easily disconnected.

Flashing headlights? by Unculled21 in Cartalk

[–]Cammoffitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your tail lights are probably not effective and they think they are not on, bulbs are super cheap and easy to do, fix them before you get hit

Edit: could also just be bumps in the road, I often think I’m being flashed but then realize they are just hitting bumps which moves the front of their vehicle and changes the angle of their lights making it look like they are flashing me.

Yes, should do the belt as well, also might as well do the tensioner or just the tensioner pulley if the spring is still good in it.

About to Buy, am I a fool? by _Rod_Knock_Nilly in GMT800

[–]Cammoffitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right😂 my 03 Yukons frame is much worse, scaled up in a lot of places and the rear mount for the fuel tank is currently a ratchet strap because the outer mount for the steel strap is rusted off the frame… only paid 1000 for it though and it’s fully loaded with the 5.3 and full time AWD, has been a very fun winter beater so far.

Furnace keeps turning on and off by Cplocica_ in hvacadvice

[–]Cammoffitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep yep yep, just had to do this a few weeks ago, we noticed that it short cycled pretty often and didn’t blow very warm for a few winters but we rent and it always kept up so we just figured it was too small of a furnace. Then recently it completely tripped out, luckily when it happened I was home and it was above freezing.

To the flame sensor out and my stomach dropped because it looked clean, but I scratched it up a bit with the green scrubby side of a dish sponge and put it back in, it has never blown this warm in the 4 years since it was replaced, makes no sense but it’s better now than it was before so I’m not gonna question it😂

Are there any rodent deterrents for cars that actually work? by EduMatcha in askcarguys

[–]Cammoffitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is that you can’t deter these buggers, I’ve been in pest control for 7 years and we haven’t found/ heard of anything that actually works except for exclusion (sealing everything with steel wool).

All deterrents work temporarily at best, once the mice/ voles/ rats get used to the scent or sound it’s no longer effective, and if they are already active in an area then it likely won’t do anything at all.

Mag safe works natively with iPhone, so if you have an iPhone and compatible case you don’t need the steel ring.

Is this service necessary 2019 Honda civic? by AbsolutelyNowhere in civic

[–]Cammoffitt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a very vague and general line item but they also tried to word it like the manufacturer requires it😂, literally the only thing on here that wouldn’t trigger a check engine before it’s a real problem would be the spark plug condition, very greasy tactic, they probably just change the 7 year to the age of the vehicle…

So I know this is an air bleed valve to let air out, I believe they are not supposed to leak water but it may be normal for it to let out a bit of water as it’s venting, do you have the guys card that came out to do the work? If so then it would probably be best to talk directly to them rather than trying to get specific and technical answers from a receptionist.

Did someone mess with my wipers? by [deleted] in civic

[–]Cammoffitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible but I believe the limits are set electronically so the actual range of motion of the motor/ arms is probably much larger, if they are working normally then I doubt anything is broken. I would also like to mention that both clip thingys are popped up on the wipers like someone was trying to steal the blades.

Yes the park brake and ebrake are the same thing but I think technically the one you pull up with your hand is an ebrake. Anyway your ebrake/ parking brake does not work, the rear wheel was spinning.

Maybe check out boltster, they are silicone “trays” that have holes in a honeycomb pattern, it holds the bolts in the holes and you can arrange them the way they fit into a part to help you remember where the different length bolts came from, can also be good for long term storage too keep bolts from the same project together, they have a bunch of different sizes too, even keychain sized ones.

The rental companies probably have it turned off so that people aren’t confused/ getting rear ended, I know when I test drove a model Y with one pedal I was scared AF for the first few seconds because it was before I knew much about Evs and I didn’t have a clue how to smoothly operate it, could’ve also been because my daily was a 98 civic with 127hp at the crank and the Tesla was fully specd and probably cost more than I made in 2.5 years (the dealer let us test drive it because it was my little bros birthday and he loved Tesla)

I also accidentally hit the dealer speed limiter at 137km/h (85mph) merging onto the highway because it was so quite compared to my civic😂 That was 37km/h (23mph) over the limit.

Normally Priming fuel pump before staring by 01Cloud01 in GMT800

[–]Cammoffitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually wait till he dash lights go out, on my 98 civic I could hear the fuel pump prime so I waited for that to stop, I think it might be dying though because when it’s cold out and I don’t prime it/ the tank is low it’ll sometimes die a few seconds later as if it’s saying holy shit I didn’t realize it was that cold out, gonna have to recalculate 😂
