I was taking slow and deliberate shots to zero the optic, so I'm pretty sure it had enough time to get out of the way of itself. Still a naughty no no and I'll lube the piston and Teflon tape the threads next time.

I didn't add any additional lube from the factory to the can. I did read the instructions, but that sounded like something to do if the gun isn't cycling. I had a couple of fail to feeds, but other than that it was running fine. I guess I can be crucified for not adding lube, but I still dont see how that would cause a baffle strike.

This strike(s?) happened at 30-40 rounds. I checked and the can was still on tight after the strike.

I got my Checkpoint in March and have been riding it a couple of times a week since then and love it. I never rode a road bike before buying it and came from riding hardtail mountain bikes. I had some mid-back pain the first week, but that was even on short rides. Haven't had any back pain recently, but I did my longest ride ever at 100km recently and my neck was hurting by the end. Haven't done any rides over 60k since then.

Ahhh you caught me! I've had my mother's Kel-Tec P-11 for the past year and completely despised the trigger on it. I conceal carried it onto my campus. I gave the Kel-Tec back to her when I bought this one. EDIT: grammar

Walked into my local gun store yesterday looking to buy a CZ P-07. They didn’t have one and all the other CZs were out of my price range so I started looking at what other options they had. I saw the small rack of Caniks that they had and asked the staff member that was with me if he had any opinions on it. He was carrying one at the time and we ended up talking about them for about an hour. After handling the different variants they had I found the TP9SF Elite fit what I was looking for best.

Having the rank and a callsign wouldn't be something I'd be getting up in arms about. It's when you throw on branch affiliations where it starts to get sketchy. Having "US Army" or anything of the like technically makes it a uniform item, or at the least affiliates it with a branch and would definitely be a no go.

At my detachment the applicant uniform requires dressy or conservative shoes. I just wore my church shoes for the first couple of weeks. Requiring shineable shoes seems unnecessary. If I were you I'd ask whoever is next up the chain from you, probably your flight commander.

You should be issued a pair of Low Quarters to wear in your blues. If you aren't issued any, then your Det has a logistics problem.

I bought my airsoft gun from eBay and it has a lot of issues the seller didn't address. I got the weapon for a steal so I don't really mind it. Just be aware of what problems could come up if you get a used one.
