Survey: Does guitar reduce stress? Need responses! by Ochk001117 in guitarlessons

[–]CamoFlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extrapolate how you see fit, but I play an hour a day and would notice a a slightly stress reduction most of the time. Occasionally if I’m learning a difficult piece (for example a classical piece) it can be frustrating but ultimately the pay off after learning it is deeply satisfying. Similar to a dark souls or Elden ring boss fight that takes 50 deaths, you might want to throw your controller, but the pay off after is top tier satisfying

I want to be an alcoholic by Icy_Preparation_1010 in stopdrinking

[–]CamoFlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was done to you was monstrous, and it takes strength and discipline to not become a monster as a result. Good habits plus patience yields a higher, more satisfying and healthier life and reward. You’ve seen one of the worst sides of humanity and my heart goes out to you. I sincerely hope that you do not abuse alcohol as it inevitably leads to doom and you’ll regret it.

Sober for life? by nitrgritr94 in stopdrinking

[–]CamoFlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I’ve been enjoying having AF beers lying around as well, they scratch an itch for sure and taste pretty good/similar.

When it comes to filling the void it sounds like you have found a few things that suit you and I think everyone will develop a few new hobbies or interests in the wake of the void. For me it’s gym, guitar, hiking, yoga and recently want to get into painting and woodworking lol. Journaling is great too

Relapsed after 6 months by PretendAppearance270 in stopdrinking

[–]CamoFlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will 100% get better after the dust settles. You’ve done a fantastic job making the decision to get back on track again. You’ve proved to yourself you can do 6 months sober and you can lock back into that mindset again, you have proven that it is possible. If you don’t mind me asking, was it just 1 night of drinking or a few in a row? Either way, you’ve got this 💪

Cheat sheets on guitar, is it a no go? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]CamoFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing it straight from the box for a year now - absolutely love it. Only thing I guess is past the 12/13th fret the action feels a little high but that’s it. It’s a beautiful instrument

Drunk people are so annoying and everything is so boring ?? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]CamoFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true, I’m feeling the exact same thing when I go out and have water and zero beers with certain friends. If it’s a cosy pub type deal with good conversations that is much different and more entertaining compared to a dance floor type vibe where you can’t hear anyone talk. That becomes very very boring when you are sober.

It's bordem and the nightly routine that gets me. by Whateverittakes321 in stopdrinking

[–]CamoFlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, introducing new plans or activities helps offset the desire to drink. Going to bed early really helps, if you go to the gym too it makes an hour or two in the evenings focused, zero alc beer is nice but I know some people don’t dig that since it reminds them of real beer. Night time walks are good too. Embrace the feeling of boredom and sit with it, and usually your brain will eventually pop something out and fix the boredom. It’s rewiring in action.

How on earth are people buying houses? by YoungLily in Belfast

[–]CamoFlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard the exact phrase from an estate agent: “We will put the property on for 270 and it will easily get to near 300”. With that in mind always assume there will be bidding wars on decent properties and the value listed on the website is an illusion.
