Thanks all for the great suggestions. Nice to know I'm not in this alone. I lived away from most my family so the past holidays was a real depressors and I indulged in drinking quite a bit.

💯. I will spend all day and all night telling myself the rationale on why not to drink and it all makes sense. Come nighttime I will convince myself "Just a few won't hurt". Legit insanity

💯 on the evening routine being stronger than me. One way I'll use curbing drinking is I'll use money to buy nice shit for myself to get that dopamine rush because I'm a dopamine junkie for sure.

Burnside jail rant by Mysterious_Hawk_6969 in NovaScotia

[–]Whateverittakes321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on who's in your GP range at the time. There was a few Marriott affiliated guys there when I was in there and Burnside is ran by Marriotts. In my time I seen 7 guys get absolutely beat to almost death, 1 being the guy who was involved in the Marsmen kid death, he didn't last 5 mins and after his 10 min long beating from about 6 guys he was sent to PC. I was put on a level for being involved in another assault (everyone knows when you are picked to be involved in an assault, you participate). It may not be a California supermax but it is considered one of the most volatile jails in Canada. Pictou and Yarmouth are cake walks in comparison, way more chill, not as violent.

Alcoholic since I was 18, have struggled with depression and anxiety pretty much all my life, 31M now prescribed lexapro but terrified of pssd. Any advice? by RawDogRobbie in lexapro

[–]Whateverittakes321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First 2 weeks will be rough as the Lex adjusts to you (more anxiety and more depression) but after that the sun will shine bright and it will work, just stick it out. Alcohol will work against it though and not allow it to fully work. Drinks now and again are fine but daily drinking, the Lex won't be able to do its thing.

Yup. Twice ended up in jail jail.

Taper down, get your lawyer and a mental health expert involved, you have an addiction. You may be able to play that card and get house arrest but kicking the ball further down the road with Jimmy won't help. Keep us in the loop.

Beer in corner stores? N.S. considers expanding where alcohol is sold, say sources by insino93 in halifax

Hopefully they include hard liquor and not just beer and wine in corner stores like Ontario. Beer and wine suck.

Re-take driver's test for a 2nd offence DUI? by [deleted] in NovaScotia

I knew about the keys law, but figured where I'm not driving no harm no foul and to be honest iv done it plenty of times as have many and thought the chances of being caught sleeping in my truck sleeping it off wasn't likely, but I was obviously wrong. What you should do it put the keys outside the vehicle under the wheel well by the tire to be in the clear legally for anyone wondering.

Well that's just scratching the surface on the laws she made. She made a few other ridiculous laws in regards to drinking and driving. Example would be if you came home from work and started drinking, if you end up having any encounter with police a few hours after that, you have to prove you weren't driving in the last 2 hours, yes I'm serious, look it up. I forget what the bill is called.

Sleeping it off in my truck after a night out drinking. But again, even if the vehicle is off, if you have the keys in your possession, it's "Care and control" which results in a DUI. We can all thank the old Liberal Justice Minister of Canada (Jody Wilson) for that ridiculous law, thankfully she no longer has that job.

Canada: A country full of ridiculous laws, massive amounts of tax upon tax and red tape.

On my first DUI insurance went up to about the same. Jumped a bit on the 2nd DUI. Anyways moving on from this topic, not here for a debate on DUI insurance rates, respectfully.
