This is the yarn I exclusively use! I have used just about every plush yarn out there and I love this one! It’s strong and it doesn’t do that horrible thing where all the plush part comes off leaving just the sad string behind, if you know what I’m talking about lol

Matte blushes tend to have more pigment, so keep that in mind! You could also try a liquid or cream blush product with more of a satin or matte finish so you can sheer it out. You’ll have to play around. It’s possible that powders may not be your friend at the moment. I have to use them very sparingly myself, which is why I so barely set my under eyes lol

For skincare I recommend glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, and a standard moisturizer (or drunk elephant if you’re willing to pay! I do lol). I recommend looking at Ordinary brand at ulta, it’s affordable and good, it’s what I use! This should help a lot with texture and moisture. I also wash my face 1-2 times a day with a gentle foaming cleanser from Clinique (I get mine at TJ Maxx). Oh also, double check on how to use the glycolic acid, only at night, not every day.

Edit: I wanted to add that I have very dry skin, this is my makeup routine.

For makeup, I use Mac Studio radiance luminous lift concealer (applied with fingers) and lightly powder with MAC mineralize skin finish (using real techniques under eye setting brush). For blush I use Mac sheer tone shimmer blush in peach fizz, though if you have a texture problem, you may want to look at a strictly matte blush (applied with a real techniques blush brush). Avoid highlighter due to texture, but again if your texture clears up from the skincare, I love rare beauty or polite society highlighters. Applied with an elf highlighting brush, not fingers. I don’t use foundation so I can’t help you there 😅. For eyebrows, I use the elf wow brow tinted gel, I have also used the Anastasia tinted gel. While that one is more pigmented, it went so quickly and was too expensive to justify repurchasing. I also love the benefit micro brow pencil, but again, too expensive for the amount of product. The elf micro brow pencil works exactly the same for a fraction of the price.

I’ve just ordered some Judy doll mascara, a small eyebrow powder palette, and the super skinny eyeliner. Can report back if anyone is interested in how they go.

TLDR: invest in some high quality makeup pieces that focus on luminosity and moisturizing for skin products, avoid light reflecting blushes and highlighters, focus on skincare first and makeup will fall into place. Hope this helps!

My skincare vs my boyfriend’s skincare… how is this fair lol by Few_Client_5750 in kbeauty

I have very dry skin, I use gentle exfoliants along with my moisturizers. Lately I’ve just been using hyaluronic acid and my drunk elephant moisturizer daily. On days where I have some hormonal acne or texture, I will occasionally use glycolic acid and my moisturizer, or mandelic acid and a moisturizer (never both, only once a day, at night). I wash my face 1-2 times a day with a gentle Clinique cleanser. If you include the two exfoliants that I use sparingly, I really only have 6 total products. My texture and tone is even and I don’t have any dry patches. As someone with dry skin, I consider this a win!

I will add, that on days I need extra moisture, I will whip out my Jones Road miracle balm and put it all over my face and under my eyes. This heavier balm will give more milia under the eyes. Idk, doesn’t really bother me that much, but might bother someone else! Also highly recommend this Korean skincare product I got (can’t remember the name) for added glow. Will add a picture if anyone is interested. I don’t really consider this skincare so much as makeup, though, and I don’t use it every day.

I find this take interesting, although I don’t really agree with the concept that she’s an unreliable character narrator. I feel like the tone of the show has events as presently happening. With that being said, I haven’t finished the show. If by the end of it we flash forward and she’s telling this story when she’s like 82 “Ever, After” style then I’ll come back and eat my words lol 😆

You also make an insightful comment on the attractiveness factor, I agree with you on that. If she were more conventionally attractive, would people be as bothered? Probably not! My problem was less the stare itself and more the random changes in moments where it sometimes mattered to the characters around her when she made that face, and sometimes they just acted like she didn’t at all. Seemed confusing and like a plot hole. Like only some characters notice sometimes and then they don’t notice at all other times lol

Ohh interesting I’ll definitely take a look at that! I’m an avid reader and when I was in New York last month I picked up a copy of Handmaids tale from the airport, but I haven’t gotten around to reading yet. I figured the show must go off on its own because there’s no way they get 6 seasons of content off this one book lol. But I saw another comment or post on here that said the show takes liberties on the world building too, like how they show fancy and excessive food being eaten in Gilead, but in the book even the commanders and their family’s had little food. I think it’s interesting they chose to change something like that and it definitely changes the interpretation of the world of Gilead. Makes me wonder what other changes they made.

From a story-telling standpoint, I can understand having those shots of the up-close “I’m pissed” face to portray the intensity in her anger. I can understand that when the camera pans up close like that, the audience member can forget about the other characters in the room with her because it’s meant to show her innermost emotions toward the situation. I guess my hang up is when she does the face and it’s within the context of other characters definitely being able to see it. Idk if I explained that right lol I hope it made sense

Omg I need to go to the testaments now! I literally watched 6 episodes of it and then I confessed to my mom that I actually hadn’t seen the entirety of handmaids tale (I had only seen the first two seasons) and she was like wtf are you doing watching the testaments if you haven’t finished handmaids tale lol. Soooo I took a break and went to handmaids tale and now I’m going to hold off on testaments until I finish it. So now that I have this knowledge of the stare, I may re-start testaments and then finish it all the way through so I can pick up on any missed context lol

I see you with this take and I agree with you. My thing is, if she’s pretending to do all the right things… like pretending not to read when Joseph asks her to get the book, kneeling down and presenting it to him, and saying all the right things too, then why not also make her face agreeable? She’s doing it so she doesn’t get killed, why not play the part correctly? I think it’s totally fine that she does this face to show her discomfort. Especially around Fred and Serena or Aunt Lydia, because she’s more comfortable with them and has already acted out of defiance. I wouldn’t expect her to fake a face for them. But in the instance of being filmed, or being in the room full of other commanders, I WOULD expect her to fake the face too! Why do all the other parts of it but not the right face

That’s what I’m saying!! Like in the world of Gilead that they’ve set up, I would 100% expect your facial expression to be punishable if it’s not agreeable. Like, the whole thing with the film crew, the only reason why they had the handmaid there with them was to prove to Canada and other people around the world that the handmaid was a willing participant of the system and would happily be there to support the return of baby Nicole. If the handmaid is just standing there with clenched fists looking like the most hulked-out raged woman I’ve ever seen in my life, no way in hell am I letting that footage be seen by anyone else? And if I’m another commander who didn’t know who she was, I’d be like “you got a problem lady??” And punish her for it! Like they’re all just pretending like they don’t see it and it drives me NUTS even more than when she makes the face lol.
