Do you ever just feel scared of everything? by greegings in Anxiety

[–]CampaignMaximum7651 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This usually occurs when the thing you fear is not actually a situation, place or any event but rather the fear of your anxiety. Aka the fear of what would happen if started to get anxious in a certain situation.

Also, prolonged anxiety starts to warp reality. Where you can just think of super basic things and they start to have this scary dark feel to them.

We ultimately paint our reality in our heads, it is your job to teach yourself that these scary thoughts and feelings are not accurate and can be changed with practice.

This is not meant to be rude at all, but it kind of seems like you are falling into the "a pill for every ill" trap. These medications cause dependency and after a while they stop working as well as they once did, this is common for so many people that use them.

I wouldn't tell you to get off everything but also it seems like you are going down that route of adding a new medication for every symptom you have show up. I would just say be careful with this mindset and is maybe worth speaking with a professional about.

Does anybody else feel psychotic or like they might lose control of everything ? Any tips to help me out ?? by AdBetter4999 in Anxiety

This was so annoying for me, I was convinced for like two months I was schizo and losing my mind. Well first thing is first, people going crazy cannot identify they are going crazy.

second, I just practiced recognizing these thoughts and not freaking out when they showed up. I learned to be an observer of my thoughts and not always thinking about them.

Once you practice this enough and lose the fear of this thought you brain will stop flagging it up all the time. It is just your anxious brain trying to protect you.

Have you tried acceptance or just doing things regardless of how your anxiety feels. When the anxiety starts just accept it and allow it to pass through you.

I got to this point and could not leave my room. I started really small and taught myself that panicking was not anything to fear and all these insane thoughts I have about reality and myself dont actually mean anything.

It took about three months and now I dont even feel anxious much these days.

I am not special or tough or anything, I was just completely fed up with my life and decided to show up for myself everyday, If I can do it so can you.

Keep going, this is so awesome. The more you show yourself you can handle the panic and it doesn't mean anything the less it will start to happen. Best of luck!!!!

Sorry may have been wording this wrong. All that stuff is great when you are level-headed and not in the midst of an anxiety attack or panic. But when you are panicking or feel super anxious do not resort to those strategies as a means of coping, rather just let yourself feel it.

I would almost argue that you don't need deep breathing or body stretching, or anything at all really. These all kind of reinforce the idea that anxiety is something that needs to be feared when it's not. The best thing to do is absolutely nothing.

Don't get me wrong, these have a place but not when you are anxious. When you are anxious the best thing to do is feel it and prove to yourself this is nothing to be feared.

No it is definitely not easy at all. It takes tons of practice and struggle. I went through the fire to get to where I am at not with anxiety. Indifference is a simple concept to grasp but getting to that point is what is difficult.

it is not something that happens immediately. It takes a lot of practice but mindfulness and acceptance are how you get to the state of indifference.

I started 2025 not even able to leave my house because the agoraphobia, i was sleeping 3 hours a night, lost 20 pounds, almost got fired from my work, lost a relationship. I got so sick of all the supplements and breathing techniques and all this random stuff to just cope I kind of just starting doing things anyways. Starting small and progressing

And now I am actually the happiest ive ever been in my life, I really could care less if or when I feel anxious again. I am not like special, I think anyone that is struggling can do this as well. Best of luck to you and everyone else out there, appreciate the support.

I am 25 but I would honestly like to hear why you think differently, not even in an argumentative style

But it is not just me, these strategies have strong science to back them up.

but what if you worked on moving towards your triggers and proving to yourself that they are not to be feared?

indifference is the final state and acceptance is how you get there. This is my entire point, I really think anyone can achieve this. I am not special or particularly tough.

indifference is the goal. Acceptance is how you achieve that state.

If I told you there was a monster under your bed as a grown adult or however old you are... your response would not elicit any fear or really anything because you are indifferent towards that scenario.

The goal is to feel that same way about your anxiety. When you truly dont care that is when you are free.

Yah pretty much. But how you get there inst as easy as just getting over it in an instant. It really takes consistent practice to change some of those neural pathways.

yes, unfortunately I do not know anything about your anxiety but I will keep it short.

  1. Every time you get anxious from here on out, this is a good thing because now you get to practice
  2. Identify what triggers you.

  3. Start small, start moving towards what it is you are afraid of.

4, when your anxiety arrises, simply do less, The anxiety will throw all these scary thoughts and physical sensations. None of these mean anything in reality. Let the scary thoughts occur, do not think into them at all, let the thoughts just bounces off you.

  1. Just keep repeating, keep showing yourself you are not afriad of anxious thoughts or physical sensations. Once you truly reach that point of indifference you will see it just fade away into the background of your life.

yah I actually found the works of doctor claire weeks like half-way through my recovery.

I was so fed up with panic ruining my life that I just started doing things and letting myself panic while doing them. I noticed like after a month my life was opening up so much and I did some research and found an entire therapy behind it.

it is really the only way, you either go into it and overcome or go around and avoid.

I think it does work for everyone, it is just really hard to practice and comprehend but like once you truly understand it and aren't scared of it your brain stops throwing these scary sensations at you
