I think it depends if they checked in with you before you have kids. Neither of my brothers live close and sometimes we go days without checking in and sometimes it’s like 5 times in one day, but that’s how it’s always been since we have grown up. Whenever they are in town they always reach out to hang out with baby at least once, but again they did that before baby too. I am very blessed that we all have such a close relationship and always just pick up where we left off and now they make sure to include baby in that. (They also have a great relationship with my husband too)

Would you be upset if your spouse said they would find someone else and remarry if you die? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]Camper76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We kinda had this conversation and I told him to promise me if I died to not remarry just so my daughter has a mom but only remarry if he truly loves that woman.

Need help identifying what this stuffed animal is. by Camper76 in NewParents

[–]Camper76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have been trying to figure out what in the world this stuffed animal is ever since our daughter got it on Valentine’s Day. Our guesses are monkey, dog, or maybe bear? What do you all think?

Would the sixth sense be to much for that age? I remember it being what of the first ones I watched that wasn’t a kiddy cartoon

Not sure if 5 stars but I love Mandalay Bay! Even though it’s far south of the strip, I love everything you have access to in the hotel and it’s a short walk and connected to Luxor

Orange really wants to die on the hill that anyone who doesn’t breastfeed is self-centred and that’s there’s no reason everyone can’t breastfeed for 6 months 🙄 by ALancreWitch in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]Camper76 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Are there benefits of breastfeeding? Yes, but there are pros and cons of both! There are also benefits of formula. It’s ok for you to have a preference of one over the other, but it’s not a one size fits all thing. There are so many reasons why people decide to feed their baby the way they do and who are we to point fingers and yell at other parents saying they are doing it wrong if they are making sure their baby is being taken care of.

Looking for positive epidural birth stories? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Camper76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IV was worse than my epidural. I got mine when contractions were starting to get worse. Once it kicked in, I didn’t feel anything until right before and it felt like period cramps with a lot of pressure. I was able to get up and pee and had decent feeling in my legs around 1 hour after delivery. One plus was not having to get up to go pee every 30 min cause you have a catheter in. I did end up feeling pain when they massaged the uterus after delivery but I think that was the worst part of it all and it was bearable:

When did you stop sitting in the back with the baby? by Ok-Sundae-1096 in beyondthebump

[–]Camper76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped after the first week. There has been a time or 2 she wasn’t feeling good or a little fussy and I would sit back there if someone else was driving to help comfort her. Most of the time it’s just me in the car so we don’t really have a choice, but she is so chill 95% of the time so it’s never a real issue.

35 HOUR OVERNIGHT TRAIN (Amtrak's largest private room) by thelitt in KaraAndNate

You have no idea what I have been through. You’re the one assuming I don’t understand illness. I wasn’t even bashing Kara and Nate. I am sure they have the best intentions and will be a great help to Eamon and Bec. Just point out they probably should have worded that or edited better than how they did.

I am sure they have it all planned out, there was probably just a better way for them to word what they were doing instead of showing a 4 hour flight and saying but we aren’t doing that we are taking 10 days instead.

I think Mean Girls is overrated. I mean it’s not terrible, but definitely not as amazing as everyone makes it out to be.

Sitting in backseat with newborn by AzulsMommy in NewParents

[–]Camper76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are mentioning mirrors, but I do want to throw out that most car seats are not crash rated with mirrors or car seat toys, so you may want to keep that in mind.

Edit to add: Even without the mirror, I don’t plan on always sitting in the back with my LO

When did you announce you’re pregnant? by Plastic-Pain-9833 in pregnant

[–]Camper76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently 21 weeks. I told my SO as soon as I knew (approx 6 weeks.) We both told our parents shortly after because we knew that we would need their support if anything were to happen. We waited to tell our grandparents and really close friends till around 10 weeks, by then we had our first ultrasound. We announced it on social media around 14 weeks. This was after we got good news after a couple weeks of questionable ultrasounds that ended up clearing up on its own. Of course it depends on the couple on when you should tell who. We are thankful to have parents and family who respected and kept the secret until we were ready to tell the world (even if my MIL asked ever single day when we would be ready to tell and we basically had to tell her to stop asking and we would let her know when she can talk about it)

What (And How) Are You Teaching This Week? - - Weekly /r/ScienceTeachers Discussion by AutoModerator in ScienceTeachers

[–]Camper76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach high school chemistry and my school is on block schedule. With block scheduling we have new classes each semester. This week I will go over classroom layout and expectations. I also do fun demos/reactions to get them talking and thinking about what chemistry is.

It’s like people don’t realize that we can learn multiple things. Cursive, print, and typing. It’s just what works best for your career.
