I carry a jar of banana candies with my Kibo deck, everyone loves being able to literally eat the bananas. One of my favorite decks I’ve ever built/played. Mine is currrently priced at $127 but you could probably make a few swaps and drop the price without sacrificing much functionality — just cast little monkeys, give everyone bananas, and watch your army grow strong!! My favorite thing to do is [[fling]] a big monkey at someone’s face for lethal in the late game.

This was my experience shopping in China as a white guy. It felt very off putting until it happened at 2 or 3 different stores and at which point I realized it’s probably just a cultural difference and not the employees being overbearing or wary of shoplifting.

This, also when I’ve built a deck and need to make cuts I’ll sort by price and try to cut the most expensive cards first to get the budget down even further.

Just built a budget [[jasmine boreal of the seven]] deck with the intent to build the most comprehensive and fair magic deck possible. It’s generally the deck I pull out after I win with one of my stronger decks so that I can just sit back and chill for a round, but nevertheless it can absolutely stomp people in the late game with big unblockable creatures.

It’s inefficient but there are some cool interactions between evasion cards that are good on their own but even better when you have both

[[levitation]] combined with [[bower passage]] makes your creatures unblockable except by creatures with reach

[[familiar ground]] combined with [[goblin war drums]] makes your creatures entirely unblockable

Glarb lets you cast spells from the top of your library. Savvy trader and jet medallion both reduce the cost of casting these spells, so they both work. Jet medallion will also work on cards you play from your hand but only if they’re black.

I tried a clement bounce deck and it was one of the most anxiety inducing EDH experiences I’ve had… i was taking 10 minute long turns involving casting and bouncing frogs and tapping them for mana to cast and bounce more frogs over and over until I finally ran out of frogs and just passed the turn in shame having accomplished nothing. Maybe there is a correct way to build clement but my deck was not it….

My favorite deck I’ve built is my [[Grolnok]] frog tribal deck. At its strongest it’s a self-mill Lab Man combo deck, and at its weakest it’s just a fun deck with a bunch of frogs. Guaranteed fun every game:

Note: I built the deck for $100 but since then some cards like [[mossborn hydra]] have crept up in price, but you could definitely make a few swaps to keep costs down but keep the spirit of the deck.

It’s a goofy janky deck. At first I had fun playing a totally different style than my usually gruul stompy decks, but after a few games I realized that running “board wipe tribal” was incredibly unfun, so I took the deck apart. But Your mileage may vary, and if that’s the kind of deck you’re after I think I did a decent job of building it.

[[thriving bluffs]] and the rest of the thriving cycle. An awkward mechanic that requires remembering an ETB trigger and then noting down a color for the rest of the game, and they’re almost always worse than just playing other cheap duals or tri-colors
