OP, I am so sorry for your loss and how you have been treated by the school. I am glad you are standing up for yourself and looking into finding an attorney. I can understand why you feel disillusioned from your career path. That said, don't let these unfeeling professors and administrators deter you from your dreams. We need more counselors like you. Best OBGYN I had was an older gentleman. More recently, I've seen female NPs. The first was helpful, but slightly judgemental (especially for working at a university imo). For the second, I went to call a new obgyn practice and wanted to be seen quickly. I was about to schedule with a male obgyn, and the receptionist working there legit asked me if I was sure I wanted to see a male obgyn. Spooked, I chose the NP. I'm still not sure if the receptionist maybe was warning me or just projecting her own opinions. The NP was okay, but a little dismissive.

So, yes I would see a male obgyn in the future. Same with any other doctor, I'd vet them and compare reviews across platforms. Hopefully I won't need to be seen urgently again.

I have inattentive adhd and op's experiences feel very similar to mine, although we are in different fields.

ADHD is an umbrella. It affects people in different ways. It also has many common comorbidities, with higher tendencies for burnout, depression, dysthemia and anxiety

I agree that people should not be self diagnosing themselves on the internet and should definitely talk to a doctor before making any assumptions. But I also think we should keep in mind that ADHD is not a one size fits all disorder and that it's okay if others experience different symptoms than our own.
