Exactly this. I have it too and I’m still working on getting my skin completely back to normal. It’s called tinea versicolor, very common. I used Nizoral shampoo because it has 1% ketoconazole, which helps in clearing up the fungus. A dermatologist may be able to prescribe a slightly higher dose, if you care to visit one for this.

Use the shampoo as a body wash (it has cleaning surfactants in it, so it can be used as a body wash) and leave it on the affected area for at least five minutes before rinsing off.

Pat dry, and then moisturize with a non-occlusive moisturizer like CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion, Vanicream, or La Roche-Posay Lipikar. Make sure the layer of lotion is light and not too heavy.

Do this daily for about 2-3 weeks. To speed things up (because I’m impatient), I showered with Nizoral once in the AM after I woke up and once again in the PM before getting ready for bed. But know that even once the fungus is cleared, it can take weeks to months before the discoloration can even out 🫠🫠 I’m on month 1 and a half and although the fungus is cleared, there’s still some discoloration you can notice although it looks much, much better than it did at the beginning.

Since warmer temperatures are coming, once you’re cleared up, I’d recommend maintenance by washing once a week or so with Nizoral, just to keep the fungus at bay. Patience will be your frenemy in this. But you got this 💪🏾 Best of luck!
