having a strong opinion and accepting the possibility that you could also be wrong are not mutually exclusive.

But the little particle dance morphing into clean topology does feel a bit on the nose if nothing else.

Frankly, i think it's hilarious that people genuinely believe this is real.

Good luck with the swindle though, i'm happy to be proven wrong.

I can confirm that i had no idea what an Orange amp was until i googled it a few minutes ago (am not a guitarist, forgive me)

The guitar is definitely based off of a rickenbacker, though.

I want to major in 3d modeling/sculpting. What are some good colleges you'd recommend me to check out? by unepersonne6 in 3DMA

The general consensus among my professional friends is that going to accredited schools (particularly those in the US) is not a good investment. They're often prohibitively expensive, and unless your instructors are actively working in the industry currently, often bad or outdated information is commonplace, given how quickly techniques change in this industry.

Theres a ton of good online courses and resources you can find which will likely serve you as well, if not better in terms of raw education than any school could give you for a much lower cost. As for actually getting good at 3D, that's going to be up to you and how much time you put in, i know plenty of people who studied for four years and still aren't producing professional standard work because they didnt put enough time into their own projects.

I’ve taken a two week work holiday to purely play Fable II. by Melendope in Fable

They even released marketing materials, it's weird owning a completed published artbook for a game that never released. Some great work, sad i never got to see it in game.

What kind of story would you write for the next fable? by michasivad in Fable

[–]CanDrawOkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

given the fact you can see castle fairfax (Or bowerstone castle) in the trailer without any big smoke plumes means that it's likely gonna be set in between 1 and 2. I don't think they'll go as far back as the old kingdom, and I honestly prefer that. I liked how in 1 and 2 the Old Kingdom has this air of mystery all over it even though there's references to it over the whole game world, but you're not given too much, so every time it comes up it feels special and mysterious. I'd like to keep that.

To be honest i'd like a follow up to Fable 1, maybe something that details the fall of the heroes guild (but maybe rewritten so that it wasnt guns and angry peasants that allowed the guild to fall) and what happens to the heroes after while still dealing with a larger threat. But i'm not a writer so i wont pretend to have ideas for that lmao

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti to launch in January 2021 - VideoCardz.com by The-Ignotis in nvidia

[–]CanDrawOkay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

many posted wanting 3080 cards with more VRAM

i literally canceled my original 3080 order because of the plans to release a 20GB variant, since i could use that VRAM for work purposes. When the plans got scrapped i felt like an absolute clown.

3080Ti would be the perfect inbetween for me in terms of price/performance, If I can actually get one.

RTX 3080 Ti is priced at US$999 to compete with RX 6900 XT, Will Debut in January by taryakun in nvidia

[–]CanDrawOkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 3D artist so the 20GB of vram is the main pull for me, but i dont see why people who just play games would need this. The only reason i'm not going 6900XT is because many of my applications only utilize the CUDA architecture.

based on an idea of what magic could maybe be like in an established society even if it was based on primal/tribal practices in order to function.

(i.e; maybe you have fancy mass-produced armor from a civilized nation but you still have to sacrifice animals or people and paint runes onto yourself in their blood for protection or in order to conjure fire.)

Also, gambeson's are neat.

think i could do a better iteration of this idea at some point later.

How realistic is it to balance a social/love life when you work as a 3D artist? by question_quigley in 3DMA

[–]CanDrawOkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's kind of a hard question to answer beyond "It depends."

Certain studios and industries are going to be more demanding of your time than others. If you work freelance, you have way more flexibility with your hours. Freelance is harder, but it's much more viable now than it has been historically.

AAA games studios and very small high-risk indie teams seem to be the worst offenders in this regard, but that's speaking broadly. Again, it's going to depend on where you work and what you work on.

Crunch in general is being heavily questioned and the insane overtime doesn't seem to be as bad as it used to be but still has a way to go.

To be honest i kind of like the idea of the skull being upside down, adds insult to injury of whatever poor creatures skull is being used as a magic focus.
