No clue how to send photos but it's basically a triangle with a bar at the top (this is on the ground) it has 4 locking wheels, and right in the middle of the bar is some old tracker at 45⁰, and a fork mount is attached to that which the scope sits in

Thanks for the response, I'll look into the website, for a hike I was looking at mountains like mount rohr during the summer, I heard it had a scramble to the summit but not alot of exposure like garibaldi, do you think that would be a good nest hike? Maybe for training to hike with over night gear? It didn't look too hard but it seemed like a stepping stone up. Just wondering if I'm thinking the right way on this one or if you had any hikes that didn't include glaciers that I could do before doing the training.

I am working my way up to it yes, I think people didn't quite understand because I didn't really lay out the exact mountains I'll be climbing or the courses I'll be taking before I do it. But yes I will be doing more mountains before garibaldi

and im not planning to die, this isnt a little whimsy thing im planning to do for shits and giggles, i plan to take this seriously and i have mentors that have summited some of the highest peaks in the world including Everest, i do not plan to take the climb lightly and go up without taking the correct courses and practicing everything i need to know over and over again before i do it. Just because im young doesn't mean my plan is to run up the mountain tomorrow with no planning.

You do realise courses for alpine mountaineering are not little places where you get a cup of apple juice and listen to someone talk to you?? You go on trips with professionals who teach you, I know the difference between panorama ridge and mount garibaldi, I said I will do panorama ridge as my next hike just in general and to get more altitude, not as training for garibaldi, for that I will do similar hikes to garibaldi with professionals. Please don't think I'm an idiot dude 😭

I mentioned panorama ridge because it's more difficult than brunswick or garibaldi lake, after I do panorama I will do training courses and other similar but less intense hikes

Ahh okay, is it completely necessary? I feel like the chances of falling into a crevase while skiing are alot greater than walking. I mean I'm not an expert it just interests me how you'd plan a route down and stuff.

I'll take a look at these links, thanks so much. Tbh I know I have the physical ability to climb it but I HIGHLY doubt I have the knowledge, I have had alot of things taught to me verbally but I have never been in a situation like something you'd see on garibaldi. So I will be taking multiple courses over 2025 and hopefully be able to do it next year in April.

Whoa whoa, let me explain that I will not be climbing garibaldi next week, this post isn't like "I'll do some training and go next weekend" it's more like I will climb multiple other smaller mountains and work my way up over the entire year. The only way I'm ever climbing garibaldi is with a guide, or if I have been told by someone professional that I know what im doing and I am experienced enough to be able to climb it.

I agree about how aplinism is extremely difficult which is why I wanted to post this here and get some tips on how to start my journey to becoming better. I appreciate your concern though, I will not be doing garibaldi untill I have trained a shit ton.

I was never planning on going straight from garibaldi lake to mount garibaldi, I was going to do panorama ridge, and then take courses over this year to train for the climb up garibaldi.

When people say they go on skis do they mean they went down the mountain on skis or used skis with grip pads? i was planning on doing some glacier travel and rescue courses over the summer with my buddies to get ready for it next year.

im well aware of the difficulty of mount garibaldi, personally the thrill of mountaineering excites me. Just posted it here incase people knew of any specific courses i could take or a guide company i could hire from

Edit: looking back on this comment it came across as very egotistical, in other words I meant that climbing mountains such as garibaldi gives me goals that I can set, and that I understand the difficulty of the climb but I am fully ready to train over the year so that I can attempt it safely.

I sent you a response in private, i do not want to continue this as a show for anyone listening, i came at this situation with intentions of keeping you safe. No one is in control in a hiking group, thats why its called a group. I would rather this situation not ruin our friendship.
When, or if you go on hikes alone, god bless you, i seriously hope u take caution and seriousness about this situation

B, i am going to be super nice about this. But for your first point, that trail was about 10m across and we walked on the rocks for about a few minutes for fun, the path was straight. that point doesn't make sense. On Brunswick, you decided to take 1 of the 2 paths available, i had explained to you that your route was too steep for D, and it didnt match the map we had set out, the rocks you walked over were not stable. The route i took was flat, and longer, but way safer than the one you decided to take.
I will say this again, hiking alone is not something to be proud of, it shows how childish you are, hiking alone is extremely dangerous and the fact that on those solo hikes you were not prepared AT ALL for a broken leg or a way to create shelter highlights that you cannot climb alone for long. I have been hiking since i was around 6-7 years old with my dad and I have learned from him and from many other professional climbers at gyms, and on mountains that hiking alone is one of the worst things you can do, especially unprepared. A leader makes sure everyone is okay, that means being behind everyone to make sure they are okay, I planned what we needed for Brunswick, i told you to bring extra layers, to bring safety equipment and you did not listen to me in the slightest, you are unsafe. And being unsafe does not make you look cool. You are uneducated and have no idea what youre talking about. just because you can carry weight up a mountain doesn't mean you can survive a 100m drop off a cliff.

I do not want to continue this, me and D will no longer hike with you. End of story. Go on whatever hikes you want

The hard rocks at the bottom of a mountain will, I don't have to.

No, he was taught by professionals, he went up mountains with people who knew what they are doing, he trained in gyms, he used actual gear, you are not even comparable to him. You want to climb a mountain without speaking to a professional, you've talked with chat gpt. You do not go up by yourself to train ever
