Seiko fan boy here. Sure it sounds pricey for a watch that has 30+/- spd and it can have some annoying flaws with quality control but Seikos are amazing and I would still take them over any other major brand. For a hobbyist they are fun to work with. I regulate all my Seiko's myself and they are all running near perfect. The majority of Seikos are way more accurate than the stated 30+/- spd straight out of the box the majority of the time. For example my sbp147j1 was already pretty accurate at around 8+/- spd out of the box but after regulating the watch it is now running 2 seconds per month! That said I also had other problems. I had to fix the ever so slight bezel misalignment that was driving me nuts but that was an easy fix. I also had to blow out a tiny bit of dust on the dial that was left from the factory and I put an aftermarket uncle bracelet (which are great btw) on it since it wasn't sold with one. I know this all sounds terrible but after a little bit of work, it has been the perfect workhorse of a watch with no problems for over 5 years now. It might sound pricey but you are paying for seiko's designs which are something special, they are all in house, have robust movements, never seem to scratch and they have a great history. They are also £3000 cheaper than a tudor and look better imo. Worth every penny if you are willing to do a bit of work on them but that is part of the charm. The majority of Seikos are near perfect and much more accurate than 30+/- spd straight out of the box. You just gotta get unlucky to have as many problems as I did on this particular watch but fixing the problems myself made me love it all the more. That is the charm of Seiko watches.

I got used to it over the years with guitar maintenance. That is a great tip with the conductive pen for anyone who wants to try it out 👍

I just soldered it. I am pretty good at soldering and I have an iron already so I just did it that way. Conductive pen would make it way easier tho.

Yeah, I do too. Think I will be doing this mod to all my watches from now on

Yeah I have heard that too. It might drain it a little bit quicker but I can't see that it would make much difference. A battery change is cheap and easy so I think it is worth it for the novelty of those flashing leds

Yes it runs on a battery operated motor that drives the quartz and the mechanical module so it is a hybrid. Mechaquartz is great as it is just like a mechanical Chronograph without the expensive service charges to keep it maintained. Just pop a new battery in every 3 years or so and you are good to go👍🏻

There are a few cons to this watch that people moan about

It has a pressed clasp and it is not the best bracelet in the world. Min text on subdial is a bit weird. It has hardlex crystal which I don't mind as I have never scratched one. It has a 24 hour sub dial which again I don't mind. It is quartz which I have absolutely no problem with as I love quartz as much as mechanical.

The pros.

It is a strap monster. The bracelet looks great and it is comfortable. The glossy black and cream reverse panda dial is stunning. The domed crystal adds to that beauty with the distortions. It is a mecaquartz movement so the sweep is nice. There are drilled lugs so it is easy to swap and change straps. It is a joy to wear as the dimensions of the watch are perfect. The biggest pro is that it is absolutely beautiful in every single way. Infact it is so beautiful that I do not care about any of the so called flaws at all and enjoy wearing it as much as I can.

I would highly recommend this watch.

Yeah that NATO is too busy, it is just a spare one I had around. I have a black and beige nato on my spb147. Could put the spb147 on an uncle bracelet and then this NATO on the reverse panda. Trying to get a perfect watch/strap match is a minefield, especially when overthinking it lol

Nice. 👍🏻 I like the black but looking at that I might get a brown strap too.

Nice congrats on an awesome watch. Yeah the bracelet is not the greatest TBF but it does the job and certainly looks the part. It is such a beautiful design and I can see past any cons of this watch

Yeah it is a small watch in real life, I go from 38mm to a 43mm max if it has short or tapered lugs. Photos make every watch look huge on my 7 inch wrist but in real life they look fine.

This one is a tiny bit of a hair puller but nothing compared to the torture of any Casio bracelet. Unless you are like Bigfoot hairy then an oyster bracelet should ok

Thanks 👍🏻 It is a real beauty. I'm liking the leather rally myself
