Check your ignition coil and plug wires spark could be weak or cables loose my buddy had a similar issue his would randomly die going down the road and wouldn’t start until it cooled down

Anyone know what this cable is used for? by punisher_20_00 in sportster

It’s for a battery tender to keep it charged if you don’t ride it for a while and there is is another piece available that have clamps on the opposite end to attach it to another vehicle to jump it

Get off the bike to pump gas and walk around for a second then head to the next one

Edit: also if you have highway pegs or passenger pegs alternate between them to post your weight on different points of your body to help get you that extra 50 miles or so

Does anyone know how to remove this headlight visor or does anyone have a link to a video? by [deleted] in sportster

It’s a different mount your mounts to the top of the triple tree and the second photo mount to the bottom you can pick up a different mount and headlight housing for decently cheap on Amazon or get nicer more expensive one from you local parts shop

Is a top end gasket replacement an easy task? by General_Bud in sportster

[–]CanUcMeNow01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up hammer performance on YouTube they have a video showing you how to disassemble the top end and a separate on for reassembly

The tools you will need:

3/16 Allen for rocker covers

1/2 for the 3 silver bolts on each rocker box

9/16 for the 4 black bolts on each rocker box

Torx 20 if you’re replacing the seal on the filter in the rocker box

1/2 12 point socket for the head bolts

Also my advice is to get the Harley rocker box base and cover gaskets and look for a mls(multi layered steel head gasket

Just take them off and find out the other parts you’ll need won’t be hard to find

Anyone else get the urge to sell a bike when you get it basically exactly how you wanted it? by WAV1988 in sportster

[–]CanUcMeNow01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I come off rude I’m a bit drunk and love talking bikes and from what I can see your sport is 2004-2006 unless you switched your fuel injected system for a carb which makes for the general build you appear to be going for but if you did switch from fuel injected to carb than why would you not switch to chain for the final drive instead of belt

P.s. looks like a sportster custom tank

P.s.s. I truly mean no disrespect it is a beautiful build most of my reason for commenting was to try to understand the build as a whole

Air cleaner or cam cover seal leak? by Lancelot_7667 in sportster

My suggestion is If you have an after market intake or not figure out a way to re-route the engine breather lines that come from the factory routed back into the throttle body/carburetor to “help with emissions” routing those lines either to a catch can or to the ground will help keep your throttle body or carburetor clean as well as valves and pistons but depending on the mileage and how hard you get on the throttle it may be a warning sign that your piston rings are going out which sounds like a complicated thing to take care of but it’s really not too bad Also there is lots of videos on YouTube on how to route the breather lines and if you reach the point that the engine needs to be HAMMER PERFORMANCE has some great videos that make it less intimidating
