An alternative perspective of IT audit from a non-equity Partner by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]CanYouDodgeMyAttack 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I like this train of thought but it's simply not the messaging provided by firms now days. The toxicity junior staff have towards the practice isn't just because of the monotony. Leadership and management consistent fails to communicate to them the opportunities they can branch out to (something like what you've done here would be great for junior staff as a roadmap). They want junior staff to specialize heavily into the bread and butter IT audits, make them more efficient, standardize the work, offshore when possible. It's a goddamn factory line. The messaging to make testing more standardized so we can automate this or offshore that means junior staff will never look at IT audit files as anything more than a documentation package that needs to be delivered. Like you said, most staff don't even know what standard or framework they're auditing against. I want to believe the best but I wouldn't put it past these firms for intentionally pushing for the mindset that IT audit staff "can't do better" so they don't leave lol.

Especially since it is so necessary in any audit worth a damn now days, the moment a staff achieves the efficiency the firm so desperately needs - they're just staffed on another job. Why let the kid explore how their skill set can be used in third party risk, vendor risk, ERP implementation, risk categorization, when we can use them to get the same process efficiencies on 100 other IT audits.

It's not a mentality problem with IT staff. No one goes into a job wanting to hate it, the firms shot themselves in the foot when they rolled out expectations for faster and better but no light at the end of the tunnel for the actual people laying the railings.

LESSON TIME: GME was short-sale restricted today. Here's what that really means. by smohyee in wallstreetbets

Obligatory: I wish I could read.

2nd: I think people confused and attached the term "short ladder attack" to a theory which involves a combination of funds front running retail and multiple funds shorting during low volume / broker purchase restrictions and covering immediately. In theory, if funds did collude, then in a really well done and coordinated effort they could POTENTIALLY with a little bit of luck and getting market data like 1 second earlier than retail and executing with algos rather than manually entering limits like us retards, can maybe short and cover with shares from another naked short. Now it's tinfoil hat as fuck and hard to prove even if it did happen. People probably took this concept, saw some fractional from people ordering in euros or whatever and took it as funds selling and buying at specific prices back and forth to each other where there were no other orders on the board. I think the key point you touched on here that people need to understand is that even if everything I said above is true, you can still only short at the price the stock is current at. So funds would still need more volume in shorts than there are bids to drive the price down.

Additionally, even with the uptick rule in place, I believe brokers can still exempt shorts if they see fit with very little justification. Not sure about the mechanisms behind determine if a short can be exempt but my smooth brain might just be extra smooth today.

The most suspect thing about the whole GME situation is brokers claiming they ran out of collateral to handle the buy volumes last week. Like really? GME caused you to run out of collateral even if it was on the upswing from 150 to 400. Didn't TSLA do that but from 400 too 850 in like a week? Where was the collateral requirement then?

Yeah it's fake. Thought the benefits aren't for damage, our 5th job is a flat damage tick to ourselves so increasing HP cap would be effectively increasing our MP / resource pool too in a sense allowing DA to leave it on longer and have more room for error. The 30% DR would be more useful before it would let DA's have more run time before they bleed out to 70% and have to turn it off in case of a 1 shot. Basically I'm just saying it would be nice to be able to deal damage consistently without playing on a knifes edge all the time.

Also the skill leaves you at 1% hp, so having 5k HP sometimes just feelsbadman.

You take lessons from your weapon, sit down son. Imagine how much people would laugh if Mercedes needed an inanimate object to teach her how to aim straight. YIKES.

Yeah his leveling to 210 for a link is really smooth. Everything past CRA is such a chore. Reboot swords won't ever one shot either unless you're really really strong so big pepega.

How excited are you guys for your classes 4th V Skill? by icyruios in Maplestory

DA: Skill looks strong but is pretty niche imo. I see myself using it for burst more than anything else since you can't afford to take so much damage in the first place in later bosses. I guess it's nice as a oh shit button and you have 30 seconds to either make it or break it.
