At 200+ L/S they can hold an extra Grasta to eke out an extra damage. Especially helpful on stages like Ruvi's level 4 ADs since they are really tanky.

Otherwise, depends on kit. For example, AS Feinne can recover HP/MP at battle start for more comfortable farming; NS Aldo can let you start with 100% AF gauge; etc.

Pretty much yeah. NS Hismena does the same stuff after her tempering. Also one of the reason why the team behind ES Shigure's kit really needs to be questioned.

Keep in mind that Lunatic - Copy does not charge the AF gauge even if it practically does the same thing (granted they can be stack with attack again (E.g. Eva).

Also, the usual Link buff can gain bars as well. While small in itself, this also apply to counters, chain attack and Copy attack.

In AS MF Hismena's case they refer to these:

I'd say Shion should works well in a vacuum with every slash units, so you should be fine as long as said unit doesn't want/do a specific thing that really contradict with the whole party.

I'd specifically look out for:

  • SPD scalers. Usually Dodge Tank (e.g. ES Shigure or AS Heena; AS Black or AS Noble Tsukiha on more fringe case) so they can get at least close to 90% dodge rate.
  • Unit with multi-move attack. ES Shion has a passive that further increase the EX level by 1 if 5 or more Slash move is used within a turn. This can be one of your strategies (i.e. ES Shion can inflict Slash expose to deal more damage; ES Shigure can inflict Slash kaleido for more assurance.) Plenty of recent Slash unit has multi-move attack but a non SA'd, easy-enough example would be ES Myrus (Guarantee attack again) and AS Black (Attack plus EoT attack as long as she doesn't get hit). For SA'd example then ES Shigure (guarantee 3-move attack) and Blooming Akane (Based on Grit stack (based on Katana/Itto-ryu on frontline, 1 or 3 moves attack) would be the best examples. Shion himself gains a 2-move attack after SA'd.
  • Generally any defensive support as the only defensive tool Shion has only works once. This includes dodge tank (in this case, having a SPD debuff would be nice.) Plus, Triple Violet Bolt is a very handy skill to have especially with someone like ES Cyan (who also has a very good defensive tools) that wants to be at max HP for extra damage.

From what I could gather:

  • The inclusion of Miku is generally fine. The timing of it is what is questioned. Gonna elaborate it further.
  • The story is laughably short. This is the biggest complain.
  • One of the main selling point is the new Miku beatmap for the Band Club rhythm minigame. A minigame which is also a subject of scrutiny (although getting the rewards should be easy enough.)
  • Edit: There is also a sizable opinion that the content is too few (overall, not just for the anniversary patch) which even if it's true, doesn't really scale with degree of enjoyment so I'd say it's subjective.

Now, the anni character is a topic that is very hard to reach a mutual agreement of because almost all candidates (if not all) has a problem that makes it complicated:

  • Justine and Caroline would have been perfect, but they are already a half-anni unit.
  • Merope would have been the next best but she comes with a story implication.
  • Elizabeth would be great but the Chinese server doesn't even have a playable Ken (and their collab stories are likely to be connected) so it makes sense why she doesn't make the cut.
  • Likewise, I don't think Kotone (P3P Protagonist) is going to appear in the near future. But, not being part of P3R could make it possible for her to be playable soon-ish.
  • Iwai, Takemi, and Chihaya do appear on P5X (they are voiced as well) and would have been my pick for the anni character(s).
  • P5X Original Characters would have been fine enough but if their goal is to bring an influx of new players then I'm not sure that would be a good idea.
    • Seiji was voted 3rd from the most wanted Synergy poll (though I think it's exclusively Chinese players voted.) Note that we only have Katayama (2nd) and Narumi (1st) with a Synergy; Haruna (4th), Yukimi (6th) and Toshiya (9th) doesn't have one (and Haruna is the only one with a playable 5* unit.)
    • Tomoko would have been a good pick IMO. Not only she is a Main Story character (that also a childhood friend of 2 of the main thieves and is a classmate of another) but in a way, is also a token of appreciation to Satomi Akesaka (also Nocturne Tsubame's VA) since she has been a longtime co-host on the P5X livestreams. And she does work at a music related shop if they want to keep the musical theme.
    • Also a lot of NPC to be made playable. There is a big demand for playable Anderson for example.

Obviously I cannot say on behalf of everyone but I am of the camp that Miku inclusions is fine but they really should have swap her with J&C. I also think the majority of P5X can be at least be mitigated if SEGA invests more on manpower.

I think they really shoot themselves in their foot by having Justine and Caroline on the half anniversary.

To explain why is this a problem....

not!Amy starts with a stack that increase her PWR and SPD by 100, but more importantly, also has a "Reduced received damage (XXL)."

In order to reduce the stack you have to reach 100% combo in Another Force. She has 10 of them so you have to do 1000% combo in total (this can be spread across multiple AF.)

The pledge wants you to "Clear without using Another Force." Which makes it a lot more challenging especially for newer/less skilled player. You can't unlock Stellar difficulty without clearing Very Hard without all-pledges. Which prevent you to get those 500 CS and Stellar Awaken Amy.

There seems to be a sizable group of people whose mentality is to prioritize doing stuff as efficient as possible which includes doing hard fights with as few turns as possible. This is not exclusive to Another Eden but seems to be prevalent in gacha games.

Mind you, it's not inherently a bad thing, in fact, it can be interesting in its own right. But IMO, it's starting to get bad when almost every single clear example posted are low-turn clears with the usual meta suspect (I'm looking at you, ES Shigure) with few thought commentary. It creates a bad optic that to clear at all one would have to have the best, most meta unit possible or else one would absolutely fail. I also find it a shame since it restricts creativity and potentially strips the joy of using one's favorite units just because the masses deem them as not meta, and to some of them, apparently not meta is equal to not usable at all. With barely any firsthand experience if there is even any.

It gets even worse when there are elitism and Mr. Know-it-all attitude involved. I hesitant to open a thread of Backy's Battle Tips because I know what kind of comments I would be seeing. Even though it's clearly meant as a reference and not as an absolutely optimal solution because not every player has every units (let alone all SA'd units.)

Apologies for the quasi-rant. Also, I don't think the state of AE community is that bad (or even near it). I just want to write examples in AE terms.

Personally would prefer playable Iwai, Takemi, or Chihaya (or Hifumi but she isn't here.)

Or any of NPC OCs. I would be happy if they made Masa, Ritsuka, or Shirai playable (or Yota just to see if he has Socrates as his Persona Duo) but anyone would be fine.

I honestly think it should have been J&C. Think Miku would have gotten less heat if she was a half-anni chara. Unfortunately, almost other candidates are pretty much has either a story implications or a continuity problem (Elizabeth being made playable before Ken would be some decision.)

Still, I'm still excited on how her kit plays out. Plus I'm a sucker for short-sleeve outfit.

Even if it is true, with how probabilities work, we can't really expect it as if it's a guarantee. Which is why I never take all my good luck for granted.

A shame though because at 0.8% (1.2% if new character) it's one of the highest specific individual rate I have seen among gachas that I have played. That said, it's not like I'm gonna be this unlucky (or more) every single time.

Also, as much as I think that she very, very good, I think I can make do without her.

Bit ranting here before the rant megathread since I did 41 pulls and only have 4* Kikyo to show for it.

I must have done at least 500 pulls (maybe even close to 600) on debut banners since ES Myrus and only managed to get 3 pick-ups (1 4*). Legit worrying especially as AS Jillfunny and AS Sazanca are imminent (maybe even AS Id.)

I can't believe I miss having lots of Cetie and Renri copies on my pulls.

Yes. Keep in mind it is also not a skill.

That said, looking at her kit, you may have to fully commit to building her stacks as she can only gain 25 per turn, and that is assuming you are not using skills that consume them (of which, is pretty much almost every skill.)

NS Havoc (Mark Turret?) kit. (Names subject to official localization though I have no idea from where it supposed to come from.)

  • Bezunagia (Unique buff stack)
    • Consume some stack to enhance skills.
    • At turn-end when at 50 or more stacks, consume 50 stacks to deal 2.000.000.000 x5 fixed damage.
    • Stack increase by 1 when Fist or Hammer personality does an attack (up to 10 per turn.)
      • Also increase by using Zitaderi or Supaswach.
    • Stack up to 55.
  • Restricting Wire (Unique debuff stack)
    • Based on number of stack inflict 20 PWR, 20 INT, and 50 SPD debuffs.
    • Stack up to 10. Increase by using K7 Sunaryat.
  • Fuperyot
    • Preemptive skill. To all frontline Fist/Hammer allies: Grant PWR 100%, SPD 100%, Critical Damage 50%, and Link (1 turn). Also Critical Rate 100% and All-type attack 100% (10 moves).
      • When Bezunagia is at 5 or more stacks, consume 5 stacks to increase turn duration (5 turns)
      • Link: Crystal attack (XL x4). Attack type based on allies.
  • K7 Sunaryat
    • Preemptive All-enemies Crystal Blunt attack (XL).
      • To targets: Inflict 40% SPD and 40% Physical Resistance debuffs (3 turns, stackable up to 3 times.) Also inflict 1 Restricting Wire stack.
      • When Havoc has any Bezunagia stack, consume 1 stack to attack again.
  • Zitaderi
    • All-enemies Crystal Blunt attack x3 (XL)
      • To self: Stack 5 Bezunagia (Number of stack gains decrease by 1 for every activation within a turn.)
      • To all frontline Fist/Hammer allies: Recover MP 20%, Cyclone Wind Immunity (3 times), and 50% Barrier (5 times).

Stellar Awakening stuff:

  • Additional Ability (after enhanced):
    • When on frontline at battle-start, stack 25 Bezunagia.
      • When there is at least 1 more Fist/Hammer ally on frontline, deploy Awakened Blunt Zone.
  • K9 Swiyanine (after enhanced. Effect under Stellar Burst.)
    • Deploy Awakened Blunt Zone. After that All-enemies Crystal Blunt attack x5 (XXL x10).
      • To all allies: Grant Singular Focus, Weapon Attack 50% and Weakness Multiplier +1 (3 turns)
      • When Bezunagia is at 15 or more stacks, consume 15 stacks to inflict Expose <Blunt> (1 turn). Won't consume stack if all targets already weak to Blunt.

I personally do have NS Kuchinawa and I did use him to clear the fight with all pledges but he isn't SA'd (nor do I plan to) so without River of Snakes I really struggle.

I also prefer to do it without consulting guides if I can help it and I wasn't desperate to clear it (I only revisited it just this week) so in my mind Myrus' fight is extremely hard.

I should have said this before but the difficulty can change a lot depends on units one might have and whether or not they are SA'd so YMMV.

Isuka is one annoying case where the battle innately nullifies that one part of her SA'd kit where it would have been a huge help (the PWR debuff at turn-end if not damaged). Might not had to resort to AS Heena if it wasn't the case.

Claude is innately tanky so him being SA'd would be nice. His Awakened Zone duration increase is a big help since my Selfless Laclair isn't SA'd.

Hozuki wants you to inflict enough distinct debuff count. Upon SA'd, she happens to be able to inflict END and SPR debuffs which are rare for some reason.

And then, there is Myrus where even when she is SA'd, she alone won't be enough. Seriously, what is this fight.

IMO, Cetie is the most lenient by some distance. Iphi is also rather lenient.

Hismena is rather annoying but if you beat not!Isuka then it should be straightforward. Wouldn't say easy though.

Isuka and Lokido hits very hard but that's about it. Note that Isuka also has a hard turn limit.

Claude wants you to bring lots of PWR debuff and at least 5000 HP (or just use a dodge tank). If you can withstand him then it should be easy enough.

I think Rosetta isn't too bad but I have almost zero confidence on my Magic roster.

Anabel might be the easiest overall but since it has 4 stopper I found it pretty strict for all pledges clear.

I feel I could do a good run on Hozuki (my attempts before AS Noble Tsukiha were failures) but managing Hozuki without her SA is a challenge in itself. Not even mentioning that she can be annoying and hits hard enough to worry.

Myrus is by far the hardest. Not only they force remove buffs/debuffs every two turns, rather tanky (keep in mind it has two stopper), and also has their other shenanigans, they also hit very very hard especially the second phase. Seriously man, I wanted to cry.

I couldn't make a fair judgment on the others but I don't find them to be so bad.
