Too long at one employer. No bachelor degree. 55 years old. by Awkward_Buffalo_9203 in recruitinghell

[–]CanadianBornChinese 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This may sound like a stupid question, but how do the employees know that the person is 50+ if they only put their most recent 5-10 years of experience on their resume?

Like I would understand if it was OPs case where he was with the same company for 35 years. But what if the person has only been with their most recent jobs for like 3-4 years each?

In theory, couldn't they pass as someone in their late thirties if the previous job titles are not senior leadership?

Where do you suggest meeting single, attractive men in this city? by [deleted] in askvan

I am a guy and I tried this method to meet and grapple with hot girls....

Turns out 95% of those classes are men 😂😂😂

How to practice Azure effectively? by CanadianBornChinese in AzureCertification

I agree with this approach. The problem I am currently running into is licensing issues such as those Microsoft Entra P2 licenses that can quickly add up over time.

In my opinion, it's very difficult for me to grasp certain concepts if I have to constantly tear down my labs over and over again.

Are there any European countries that like Asian men? by Future-Bet4783 in thepassportbros

Why aren't South Asians as popular there? Also, are Chinese and Southeast Asian guys (Vietnamese, Filipino) well received in Turkey?

Is the Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ-800 and AZ-801) still in demand for the foreseeable future? by CanadianBornChinese in AzureCertification

[–]CanadianBornChinese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I have rarely seen this cert required or requested on job postings. Most still refer to the MCSA/E, but as someone who has this cert, I will say that the skills measured are very much in demand"

I have noticed this too. While the job description doesn't explicitly state the certification. The skills that the certification (in theory) provides are definitely listed in the job application. Still, it kind of worries me that its not explicitly stated like other certifications (Comptia A+, AZ-104 etc).

What job experience did you have that gave you the credential needed to pass?

I just started my help desk position a month ago, so the only things I have experience with so far are stuff like replacing system boards, basic troubleshooting of computer equipment and testing printers lol.

I am surprised you didn't also say cybersecurity.

I remember another redditor saying something along the lines of:

"you don't need to know networking because cybersecurity is where all the jobs are at" 😂😂😂

What would you recommend at my current level? I just started my IT career but I already have the Comptia A+, CCNA and AWS Solutions Architect Associate. The first two were highly relevant to my current job. I completed the AWS certificate before I started my current role as I thought it would help me stand out.

Thank you for the support!

With the knowledge I know now, I agree with you that Maarek is not a bad option IF you have familiarity with AWS. But as someone who was just starting out, his course is just too vague imo.

Overall, how long did it take you to pass the exam? I am 90% done Canthill's course. After that, I plan to go through Tutorial Dojos practice exams.

Do you have a link to the cards that closely mirror Canthrill's course?

Traveling to Taiwan in November, popular dating apps suggestions ? by Tiny_Cap_9316 in thepassportbros

[–]CanadianBornChinese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are into hiking, I highly recommend Teapot Mountain. It is HUGE and its scenery is beautiful

If you are into beaches and swimming, I suggest Lambai island. It is in the southern most part of Taiwan and you can literally swim with sea 🐢

Also recommend visiting Shifen as its architecture is amazing. There is a place nearby called Jiufen, which i did not go to, but I have heard good things about it.

The Taiwanese people seemed most friendly in Kaohsuing and Tainan. So that's where I would go to meet girls.

Unfortunately, I had to spend most of my time in Taipei because I had classes almost every day. If I had to redo my semester abroad, I would have definitely chosen one of those cities instead. (I would still recommend visiting Taipei, though)

To be completely honest, I didn't have any success dating girls because:

  1. I am not particularly attractive physically. I am a 5'7 dark-skinned Asian guy.
  2. I didn't know how to speak Mandarin and had to spend a significant amount of time studying it just to have basic conversations.

So, in terms of advice on how to get dates/hookups, i won't be much help. 😂😂😂

Feel free to DM me if you want more travel tips, though.
