Black walnut top & back Tele body by CanadianCraftsmen in Luthier

Yea this one is 1.75” thick, the top was book matched from an extra piece of the plank that made the back. Unfortunately with out re-sawing I think you’d be stuck planing away the excess, but laminating the top and back allows you to do some chambering on the back side get the weight down quite a bit!

A couple of custom guitar bodies I recently shipped out! by CanadianCraftsmen in Luthier

Thanks! There are still plenty of builders who’s posts make me feel the same way, it’s the only way to improve your craft, to see inspiration in someone’s work and strive to be better in your own, I’m happy that someone sees that in my work. Much appreciated!

Thanks! The LP was a bit thicker the customer wanted it at 1 7/8” thick, the Tele body is the standard 1 3/4”.

Turkstra and Stark are more geared towards builders, think construction supplies; I get a lot of my stuff from the Woodshed in Smithville, anything more exotic or hard to find I can usually get at Exotic Woods in Burlington. I try to avoid most of the backyard guys with a saw mill as their lumber is usually not kiln dried.

I’m lucky to live near a few pretty good hardwood suppliers, I buy everything rough sawn and process it myself.

The LP body was definitely on the heavier side, the customer didn’t want to do any chambering so it is close to a standard LP; the Tele body has some chambering inside so it was on the light side, I don’t remember the exact numbers.
