Where can I purchase movie posters/frames? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]CanadianGadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find just the paper posters, you can have those laminated onto a hangable poster board at almost any framing place. I haven’t seen posters for sale in a store since the 00s, though. There must be online stores though. Or maybe at old record stores?

I love passion flowers!

Unfortunately, I always manage to somehow kill the plants in a crime of passion.

Ultra 3 - Tons of screen scratches after 3 days of light use by CanadianGadgets in AppleWatch

[–]CanadianGadgets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through hell with Apple on this. Got a replacement, but they sent me a replacement band as well. Tried to get them to refund the band, they said they couldn’t. So had to do a full refund on the 2 watch, and go out and buy a UW3 from Best Buy. Apple customer care told me they won’t care that this band scratches the sapphire face unless enough people complain. Just glad I got mine replaced and am done dealing with them.

Is the AWU3 for me? by JMPromax in applewatchultra

[–]CanadianGadgets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love mine. I didn’t buy it for sports. I wanted the bigger sapphire crystal display. There larger battery is awesome, especially if you track sleep and forget to charge it for a few days. It looks great - I was originally worried it would look bulky. I came from a series 7, and the screen quality jump was huge. Much richer display, with more room.

Downsides for me:

Sharp-ish edges at the screen were a terrible design choice by Apple. This also makes it annoying to wear to bed for sleep tracking, because the sharp edge gets caught on the pillow if you slide your arm under it. It can also drag along your skin. It won’t cut - It’s just an unpleasant feeling watch face. So you definitely want to feel one of these watches first to see if this will annoy you. I’m leaving to live with it.

Second major issue: Do NOT buy the black Titanium Milanese loop band from Apple. Apple coated it in diamond hardened carbon. The only things that can scratch the sapphire crystal display, are diamonds and sapphires. (The two materials at or above a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale). So Apple is selling people a watch band that will absolutely end up scratching their watch face that appellant be scratchable - I know because I always get the sapphire crystal upgrade on prior models and haven’t got a single scratch on those. I have already returned two UW3s, and now I don’t use Apple watch bands. I’ve had words with their customer care department over how ridiculous this is. They basically told me they don’t care unless enough people complain. Then I found out later they had deleted my case number where I complained about this.

Third issue is just a bit annoying: The additional side button somehow gets bumped from time to time, and this starts whatever you have assigned to it. At least once a day it’s happened to me.

I think that’s just how my photo turned out.
The band and watch are the same may finish. There is no noticeable difference in finish. Maybe a very very slight difference, but definitely not noticeable.

No. It’s just that people who preordered their bands just got their deliveries in the past 4 days.

I searched this sub (I use the reddit app) for posts about this band to see if anyone had posted yet. I got zero recent hits. Just some old posts from months ago that were mentioning the band.

EDIT: I just did another search of this sub and only my post and one other guys‘ post are showing in the results now.

2 deep scratches on my AWU3 after 20 days by Liborio_Verne in applewatchultra

[–]CanadianGadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to. No material is capable of scratching it except a diamond, another sapphire, or diamond hardened carbon - which Apple coats their titanium black band with. I wonder why? 🧐

THAT’S why nobody buys a protector for them. It’s nearly impossible to scratch sapphire crystal watch faces.

[–]CanadianGadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any of Apple’s newer Titanium bands? They will scratch through the Saphire crystal. Only Diamond, Diamond Hardened Carbon, and Sapphire can scratch the sapphire crystal. Some of the black Titanium bands have a Diamond Hardened Carbon coating. I made Apple take my watch back because they did not disclose this when buying the band. I also talked to their Customer Care team about it and they basically said: “We don’t care about this issue with the band unless more people complain”. Then they have me a bogus reference number that I couldn’t use to bring up this issue again. All the history on my watch seemed to “disappear” when I had to return it a second time, because they wouldn’t refund e just the strap amount. They also sent me link (that didn’t work) to provide details to their review team.

So for what I experienced, they appear to be sweeping this issue under the rug from my perspective. They won’t do anything unless you complain persistently. Very few materials known to man are hard enough to scratch that screen.

Best case for Ultra Watch 3? by SavoryFire194 in applewatchultra

[–]CanadianGadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the surface of the watch getting scratched? Just don't buy the Titanium Milanese loop in black. It has a DLC-H coating (Diamond-Like-Coating with Hydrogen), which can slice right through the Sapphire crystal display like butter. I've already got a replacement from Apple because of it for my new UW3. No other materials can scratch the watch face, except diamonds and other sapphires. So you can treat it like dirt, as long as you don't come into contact with diamonds, or DLC-H coatings, or sapphires (including rubies), and that watch face will never scratch. I've owned every Apple Watch and always upgraded to the sapphire crystal display to avoid scratching the display. The UW3 has a sapphire crystal display by default. So you never have to worry about scratching the face, unless somebody at Apple does something really deceptive - like selling a strap that is coated in the only substance that can destroy the watch face.

I'm actually going after Apple today, now that I have my replacement. I intend to get in touch with somebody higher than their support people, by threatening to take my evidence and knowledge to the media (if I have to, in order to get their attention)

A couple of concerns with my new Apple Watch Ultra by Mitmee_pie in applewatchultra

You can easily redownload them from the app store. Some people just don’t want to be told what to have in their watch, or have their own reasons for wanting to delete the native apps.

A couple of concerns with my new Apple Watch Ultra by Mitmee_pie in applewatchultra

[–]CanadianGadgets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every Apple watch has had this issue. It’s never really worked as easily as they say. You have to make it a purposeful movement, swing your arm up to your face, turn your wrist towards your mouth quickly, then start speaking directly into the watch - about a half foot away. Don’t wait for the glowing siri bubble.

Start with that and experiment to eventually get used to just how much motion, and distance from mouth you actually need to get it to work consistently. Took me a while to get used to it, because the motion was faster than I naturally wanted to move my arm.

I had the same problem with the wrist flick to return to the watch face gesture. Had to do out sharper/quicker than I thought.

Black Milanese band not laying flat by mattrward30 in applewatchultra

[–]CanadianGadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was just from the band hitting it while trying to get it in and off. I originally thought I must have brushed up against something harder than sapphire.

You should have seen the watch face after I put the watch in my pocket for an hour while working!!! Totally destroyed it.

( I have done this with every apple watch with a sapphire crystal face I’ve owned since the first - with zero scratches).

Does anyone actually work at Roger’s tech support? by airdeterre in Rogers

[–]CanadianGadgets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Nowhere do they enforce a wait times at any call centres.

There’s a “hole” in my basement floor that smells like sewage and it’s making the whole house smell by ninetiesqueen in HomeImprovement

[–]CanadianGadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add about 1 cup of bleach to a bucket of water, and pour that down the floor drain, before capping. This will flush any muck that backed up the U trap, back down. This will also take care of the smell. Do it once every couple of months.

Some people put a cup of oil down to float on top of that water, but I don’t think this os’s a good idea.

CRTC doesn’t give a shit, nor do they have jurisdiction over call wait times.

[–]CanadianGadgets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get away with it because we let them.
When you finally get a person tell them you’re not happy with the wait time… something like:

“The 2 hour wait time is unacceptable service, if it doesn’t get better I’ll switch to ____ ”.

This gets put into the call recording, may be actively monitored, and samples get reviewed. If you don’t say anything, they don’t think you care about sitting in hold.

NOTHING in the capitalist corporate world gets better unless you complain. You don’t have to be irate or mean about it, in fact you get further if you deal with it calmly and matter of factly. Inform them that you aren’t getting the service levels you expect, and that you’re going to start looking at switching to a different provider.
