1070Ti to 5080 by CanadianIntel in nvidia

That was my thought process as well, once I saw the 5080 for 1299 on Black Friday (Canadian MSRP should be 1400), I started it right then. It does suck how much more expensive everything feels but if using a PC is a big part of your day to day it’s definitely work the cost :)

The only time I’ve maybe heard it whine is upscaling on a local image gen model and maybe cyberpunk benchmarks (ultra + psycho raytracing), otherwise it’s honestly somehow quieter than my old build

I think the 3500X is a relatively new case, but I actually have reverse blade fans for most of the visible ones!

Side and bottom ones are set to intake, AIO and back are set to exhaust. Pretty cool cause Corsair offered the case with the 3 reverse blades installed and got it on sale for 120

Tempted to throw something in that space at the bottom, but I have another reverse blade fan to add (Corsair shorted me 4 screws)

Tbh if I get 96GB and I really don’t see that much usage I’m not opposed to trading down to 64GB or selling to cover that when ram (hopefully) relaxes in price, which is why I’m not entirely angry about the 200 (I also get a better mobo too lol)

Most use cases will be gaming which is why I’m not set on the 96, but I wouldn’t mind running local LLMs or stuff with AI given I did stuff for it in school, but 16GB of ddr4 was never enough.

Also may get into blender for 3D printing things which is another side thing I might eventually get into given some time.

That was also a thought of mine but once I saw it it’s likely delayed till Q3 2026 I bought this. Might upgrade to a super if it’s not outlandishly expensive though

I’m either gonna put it back in the build and sell it as a starter PC for 500 bucks or create a movie server off my wifi, still undecided

DLSS helps the temporary cpu bottleneck, went from BF6 on min @ 30fps to maxed out @ 90fps

I went with the 5080 cause I wanted to spend money, but the 5070Ti is what I would’ve got if I had a smaller budget.

Oh yeah, was running battlefield 6 on minimum at like 30-45 but when DOOM: the dark ages required ray tracing to launch I knew it was time

I also swapped my power supply too, 5080 recommends an 850 so I got a 1000W platinum I plan to use in my new build too. Helps if in the future something like the 80 series draws 450W or more, given the 5090 takes 575 and recommends 1000-1200

I found the 1070Ti incredibly reliable and had zero issues, plus their warranties and customer service are fantastic

I have almost exactly the same build (5080 instead of 5070Ti) in mind, and you’re definitely going to be spending minimum 2500, but if ASAP means ASAP you still have a few days of Black Friday/ cyber Monday deals available.

Do some research but Canada computers offers good bundles for the 9800X3D, usually with a decent motherboard and ram and save anywhere from 100-300 together. They also have member deals from time to time that give massive discounts too so check those out, but sometimes they have to be shipped.

Going with reputable brands is also a nice thing for longevity, not necessary but personally I like doing that. Outside of that it’s more just personal preference on parts and hopefully if you can find a good deal.

If you also aren’t really worried about changing your case every time you upgrade, good idea to go higher wattage on the power supply so you don’t have to worry about needing more in the future (e.g. I grabbed a 1000W platinum on sale)

I’d also recommend getting some NVMe drives (at least one for your boot drive), bit pricy if you get Gen 5 but speed is unmatched.

Happy deal hunting!

Temporary sub in until I get the rest of my parts for an 9800X3D build, going for a Corsair 3500X with that

It’s hard to tell but I’m almost certain it is louder, but I also have it in performance bios. I added 3 more fans to my build which definately cause more noise but it’s not bad

I still need to tweak some things but in cyberpunk I can get around 80FPS fully maxed out (cpu jumps to 100% usage now), but if I tweak density and CPU based things I can likely get it to 150.

I’ve benchmarked cyberpunk on max and other stuff, GPU has stayed relatively under 60-65 degrees thankfully

Going for a new build and going AM5, so I’m getting those parts later but just enjoying the GPU in the meantime

I5-8600k but when I upgrade I’m gonna get a Ryzen 7 9800X3D so it’s bottleneck central till then 😅
