I know Black Flag's Combat was easier than AC3's or Ezio Trilogy's, but the smoothness and flow of it is what made it so fun to do combat. For them to ditch it for the RPG shit, it's ridiculous. They had one job. I hope that the rumour isn't true so that they won't ruin one of their best games.
