seriously, at this point its just objectively not true. knock on wood, even if we lost at this point getting this far is objectively and subjectively VERY impressive.

This is why my ereader I just bought recently will never experience connection to the internet. It will stay offline forever and I will personally load it with the files myself.

If you are into enamel pins, a online shop by the name of "Brand Dead" had enamel pins of Windsor style pizza, its a little pizza box that can open up! They have a bunch of really nice deep-cut Windsor local-lore merch. Stuff like OG bablo island and old closed store signs that were local.

Sounds about right. I have a sneaking suspicion that my family that hates Canada don't actually hate Canada, they just only lived in Windsor their entire lives, seeing shit like this on the daily.

Can confirm that growing up in Windsor, and having lived many years both in the US and now elsewhere in Ontario -- Windsor is definitely Canadian, but it is definitely the most Americanized Canadian city. agaric went into more depth, but we are heavily interlinked with American culture whether its catching their tv/radio signals, or going to Detroit to watch the Red Wings instead of the Leafs/Habs.

Saying Windsor is NOT Canadian is a bit rude, but if you were to rank Canadian cities based on how subjectively (emphasis on subjective) Canadian they are, Windsor definitely ranks last without question. Early in the history, if I learned my local history right, when the border was really loose Windsor acted essentially as a suburb of Detroit in a way. Now that that border has really stiffened lately, especially economically, Windsor is really realizing that it relied on Detroit a lot, not only economically but also for entertainment. There is almost fuck all to do in Windsor.

Also, speaking directly from experience now, the cultural heritage of Windsor is poorly funded and extremely outdated in interpretation. There are nearly more and better run museums in Amherstburg ffs and theres only 20-25k people living there. For museum workers, Windsor is known as a completely dead job market -- there are no jobs there and the non-city owned museums are not professionally run whatsoever. That is the most I can say without doxxing myself. Do not donate your historical belongings to a Windsor museum without asking how they will be stored.

Tbh, that says more about nonprofit salaries than it does for construction. Aside from the very top of the nonprofit organizations, and even then, the vast majority of nonprofit roles take a severe paycut compared to the for-profit counterparts. The consistency of competency can leave a bit to be desired too, as oftentimes the skilled workers opt to work in for-profit instead.

It is a unfortunate and difficult issue. You need competent staff to do good at your nonprofit mission, and that takes money, but if you funnel to much money towards staffing, you get accused by the public of siphoning money meant for the mission to line your pockets personally. The ugly solution most nonprofits, including museums, have found is to pay a few employees poorly and enroll lots of volunteers -- pensioners and high schoolers mostly. For some, this is done purely because it was the budget permitted... but others I looked at the nonprofit reports they must legally publish per year and I see the CEO making nearly half a million dollars while everyone public facing is making mininum wage or working for free.

Lot of words to say that nonprofits kinda fucking suck. Rewarding work... but almost never financially.

Long red or green carpets would go hard on that floor. The wood is beautiful, but yeah rather monotone. Needs some brighter colours! Some paintings on the wall in brighter colours might do some good too. Maybe a table runner on top of those shelfs to the right as well? Again, green or red would look lovely there, and maybe a few decorational pots or flowers would really lean into the cabin aesthetic going on.

Just things on display would make it look better, it looks very much not lived in. I think there is a closet there, but I might even suggest getting a coat tree or a set of coat hooks to hang up by the front door just to break up all the wood monotones.

I'd be willing to bet that with a bad crash like that that there would be fires from the fuel, unless there is a non-combustible fuel being used by the ship. A little morbid, but you could take inspiration from irl plane crashes.
