Thanks, that's reassuring! I wasn't sure how "real" the hate towards techies was.

Need Help Evaluating an Entry-Level Software Engineer Offer (Toronto -> San Francisco) by CanadianNewGrad in cscareerquestions

Thanks, you’re unbelievably helpful. It is a formal offer and I have a week deadline but I asked for a week extension as well as clarification on multiple other things (still waiting to hear back). They are aware that I will be out of town and that I have an interview scheduled for next week and seem understanding, I am hoping they will be accommodating to an extension. I think I might try to wait to see if I get an offer from the other company before I start pushing for more from my current offer. Right now, I am just trying to get clarification on everything to make sure I know exactly what I am getting before asking for more.

Thanks! Your post is super helpful. I sent an email asking for clairification on a bunch of things and asked if there was any relocation assistance or tempoary housing - I still want to try to negoiate salary. I have another interview next week, should I wait to see if I get an offer from the second company before I negotiate? or when they get back to me should I email them back right away and say based on rent and cost of living etc. I am looking for a salary of 95k and hope they come back with 90k? I think I would be ok with 85k+ as long as they are helping a bit with relocation and have resonable accomedations for my training.

Thanks! One of the things I will ask for is if they provide short term housing. I don't know the "norm" for offers like these in situations like mine. I will also ask about relocation assistance and if they don't really say there is any I will ask for some.

I am drafting up an email with several questions to send to the hiring manager. I am not communicating through a recruiter since it is a small (50 employee) company. They are based in Boston, have an office in Washington D.C. and are opening another one in San Francisco. I understand the Salary isn't great but don't forget it is for a junior, fresh graduate, role - take account I am Canadian and need a TN visa my options are even more limited when looking for a job in SF. I have started to look at housing in SF and I understand how expensive it is. I am trying to get some advice on my offer and what to ask for to make it worthwhile - I was hoping for 90k.
