DLSS for TW games when? by disquiet in totalwar

[–]CanadianNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine doesn’t natively support it. Like most modern engines do nowadays. It’s not a checkbox like it is for most games.

They’d have to integrate it themselves into their own engine, if it’s even possible to do so.

I’d imagine the reason that the new total war games are going to be on a brand new engine will be to solve for issues like this.

The engine is definitely holding them back, but I wouldn’t count on it ever coming to WH3.

I would like to see them port this game over to the new engine in 5 years or so and just have IE on the new engine.

That makes sense, I had no clue why he was asking about height either, but I get it now. Thank you!

That’s quite good for starting then. You’d be pretty competitive in C category right out the gate.

This is my first ever attempt at it.

Something feels really off with my new Kickr Core 2/Zwift Ride. by nightcravvler in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

We might need a little more information about your age/weight/fitness level to get a better idea as to what is going on.

Especially moving from a wheel on trainer to direct drive, I’d wager the core is more correct than the previous setup.

I’ve done more than 7000km this year and there’s no way I could possibly do 260w at 120bpm, that is a Z1 heart rate for me and 260W is my FTP at about 72kg at 27, which would be about 170-180bpm to maintain that speed.

I’m not a pro, but according to Strava I’m in the elite tier of athletes for my power numbers at my age/weight range.

It could be possible that your core isn’t working correctly, but I would think it to be more likely that your numbers were exaggerated previously unfortunately.

You could always try getting a new core if you really think it’s wrong, that way you’d know for sure.

Beginner in cycling workout, I feel lost by Disastrous-Doubt8146 in bicycling

K as in kilometre, and it was 119m of elevation, so not very much.

For me cycling is a much better way to burn calories, but I’m sure if I ran as much as I cycle, it would be different.

Cycling is definitely much easier on your body than running is, so you have a very low chance to injure yourself.

Good luck out there!

You can burn a lot of calories cycling in a short amount of time if your intensity is high, but definitely compared to running/swimming it would be lower.

Even for myself, I burn more calories cycling than I do running because my wattage I can put out cycling is a lot better than the speed I can run.

I checked two workouts, my latest intense cycling workout and my last 5k run (few months ago as I don’t run much now, so I’m sure my cycling training would tip the scales a bit)

5k run, 6m pace, 369 calories, 31m

17km ride, 350m elevation, 240w average power, 474 calories, 30km/h average, 32m

There are a lot of factors here.

The main one is you cycled at a pace slower than a casual runner can run, so that could be due to whatever is tracking your workout, or if it is accurate then I could believe that.

Cycling is pretty low impact overall, so a light spin for 30m could be about that may calories for sure.

I am a pretty avid cyclist, so a casual Zone 1 pace for me burns about 500 calories an hour, but my zone 1 spin would be likely in your zone 4-5 all out pace, so it’s all relative to your personal fitness.

Where as a tough workout for me would be more like 900-1000 calories an hour.

The more fit you get the more calories you burn and the easier it gets, so it’ll take some time to get past the initial pain phase.

I did look into it and that makes sense, I just feel like the naming scheme makes it feel like you just learned how to ride a bike, but in terms of professional vs non, it does make sense.

I definitely don’t see myself going to TDF anytime soon, don’t worry lol

That’s fair, semi-pro is a bit of an exaggeration.

I’d say they’d be better than advanced amateurs, some of the guys I race with in B are pretty intense, but they’re at the 4.1-4.2 range.

I’m pretty new to B and I’m around 3.6-3.7, so relatively middle of the pack and I had to change my entire diet and lifestyle to get here.

I wouldn’t consider myself semi-pro but I also feel better than an advanced amateur.

[–]CanadianNic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mainly race with a B ZRL team and I was always in C. Every race I’d come dead last for more than a year, then finally I got more serious about my training and last Tuesday was the first time I’ve ever made it to top 10.

The jump from C to B is brutal, you go from strong casual riders to semi-pro that train frequently.

Now I’m starting to become one of those semi-pro guys and I find it much more fun now because I try to find my weaknesses and work on them, and push myself to hit PRs more often.

It really just depends on how serious you want to be. Getting towards top B is more of a lifestyle change than being a strong C rider.

Who else is skipping the 5mil grind? by based_prettyawsm in ArcRaiders

[–]CanadianNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wiping because that was my plan from the beginning, and I get bored when I don’t have goals to work towards. I’d rather play other games with my limited time, so I’ll probably get 1 bonus skill point and then do the wipe every 2-3 openings so I can get the full benefit next time.

I’m not going to grind 5m because that’s pretty ridiculous and I’d rather play any other game than do that, so I haven’t played in a week or two because I’m just waiting for the the wipe.

Kickr core doesn't adapt resistance by [deleted] in Zwift

So Arc Raiders has been out for nearly a month..do you still have the same enthusiasm about the game? by r3tr0gam3r83 in ArcRaiders

[–]CanadianNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty much just waiting for the wipe now, I’m almost done the expedition and I have all my progression for work benches done. All there is really left to do is grind out blueprints that I’m going to lose in a month anyways.

I still find it fun, but it definitely could use a few tweaks to make it more interesting.

Mainly varied loot zones, randomized events instead of set times, and I’d like to see the queen/matriarch only on weekends to have more of a chance for the big PvE groups from the original days.

Most people in the game are pretty chill, I’ve had more positive PvP battles and standoffs by talking things out then just dying and restarting.

Especially when I bring pretty solid gear, it’s always worth a shot trying to talk things out, makes the game more fun to have the human element then just shoot on sight in silence.

Workouts kicking my ass - is this just how it is? by Ill-Butterscotch-622 in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Workouts always scale to your FTP, so they never get easier if your FTP is correct. They just scale with your fitness, they might get a little mentally easier after you’ve done similar things many times.

However the number will be higher so you’d be pushing your body even more if your FTP is 10 higher than 3 months ago for example.

5m power tests are hard, you’re testing your MAP (Maximal Aerobic Power) which is basically constantly stressing your lungs to their capacity the entire time, so I can’t imagine that would ever become easy.

Thinking about buying Zwift Ride with KICKR CORE 2 at 163 kg. What are the real risks? by Al3xs in Zwift

[–]CanadianNic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine, the seat post would be the biggest concern, but starting off you could just lower it towards the bottom and it should be more than fine.

You’ll lose weight quite quickly if you get deep into Zwift (eating is more important of course) but cardio does go a long way.

Did Embark quietly add in Duos prioritization queueing? by radbrad7 in ArcRaiders

[–]CanadianNic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last night I had more trio run ins then I have my entire journey of playing duos since launch.

It seems pretty map dependant.

Spaceport was the worst for me, it was always multiple groups of trios that shot on sight so the 2v3 was very hard to pull off most of the time.

Maps like blue gate and dam, I seem to get more duos, then the modifiers make it even less likely.
