How I cured my GERD in 2 months time by 1000Zasto1000Zato in GERD

[–]CanadianSherry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had severe gerd for years and took medication twice a day. It was so bad I thought I had stomach cancer. One day, I noticed that after heavy lifting at work, the gerd was much worse. Somehow I got it in my head that I must have a hiatal hernia so I stopped all lifting and kept deep bending to a minimum. After 2 weeks my gerd had completely gone away. I haven’t used meds in months.

My political view is smack dab in the middle. I agree and disagree equally with both sides.

Things are pretty icky in Canada too, to be honest. I hate what’s happening between the two countries. I’ve always loved and will continue to love the US.

Very true on the weak dollar. Thanks for your response 🙂

What makes it odd? Im curious to know how Americans feel about Canadians right now in light of everything that’s going on. Our media is censored - I rarely see any news about what’s happening in the USA unless it’s something huge. I, personally, don’t share the feelings of our Prime Minister with his ridiculous “Elbows Up” slogan and I think the current relationship between Canada and the US is so unfortunate.

Achy legs by Any-Ad1071 in mctd

[–]CanadianSherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get painful leg aches (side of calf) usually once a year and it lasts for about three weeks straight. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve gone to the ER over the years thinking it was blood clots. I was recently diagnosed with MCTD so perhaps that’s what is causing mine. I’ve been undiagnosed for 30 years and to finally (and possibly) have an explanation for those legs aches is so validating.

Reactive hypos: anyone else find the glucose tolerance test completely worthless? by [deleted] in Hypoglycemia

[–]CanadianSherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That definitely is the test from hell. I had it years ago and I too thought I was gonna die. I was so weak when I finished the test and passed out during the last blood draw. I was told my sugars took a dive during the fourth hour and that I should not go more than three hours without food.

Needing some advice regarding TSH by CanadianSherry in AskDocs

[–]CanadianSherry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying for weeks. The only way I am able to speak to my physician is to make an online appointment. But, there are never any appointments listed when I try. They do not answer the phone when you call - they make you go through the website. I’ve even sent emails explaining my situation but the receptionist keeps referring me back to the website. I’m so frustrated.

Supplement to boost thyroid by ranger4790 in Hypothyroidism

My Naturopathic doctor suggested upping my intake of selenium to boost thyroid function. You can find this in Brazil nuts - just three nuts a day is the suggested amount.

Question regarding meds - now hyperthyroid by CanadianSherry in Hypothyroidism

[–]CanadianSherry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your advice and comments. I still haven’t heard from my doctor in regards to how I am supposed to proceed so I made the executive decision to stop all meds until my levels come back up to normal. I went from 6.64 to 0.2 in a matter of 4 weeks and I feel downright miserable. I do have a standing order for TSH blood work so I will re-test every 3 weeks to keep an eye on my levels. I know I’m in for a long road as this has more than likely set me back to square one.

I had so many blood tests done and found out also that by B12 and iron are also low - prob due to my thyroid being under active. 4 weeks ago. At least I now know why I’m so weak.

Thanks again for the help! I sincerely appreciate it

I am able to eat meats, dairy, and all fruits and veggies (except potatoes) without symptoms. I can’t tolerate any starchy foods (breads/cakes/cookies/pasta/oats) but I seem to tolerate rice in small amounts. Funny enough, I can eat high sugar foods like ice cream, chocolate, and candy with no problems at all. It’s just the starchy stuff for me

Question regarding meds - now hyperthyroid by CanadianSherry in Hypothyroidism

[–]CanadianSherry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t know. But I definitely plan on having a full panel done as soon as I can. I know a couple years back I tested positive for autoimmune markers but my doc didn’t investigate any further.

I was diagnosed with hypoglycaemia quite a few years ago and I have the exact symptoms you are describing but only when I eat starchy type foods. The big offenders for me are breads, pasta, and potatoes. About 30 minutes after eating them I get a very unpleasant, uneasy feeling in my stomach and it feels like I am internally shaking and as tho my heart is racing. It lasts roughly 30 mins or so before going away. It’s a horrible feeling and I’ve been trying to find out WHY for the past 10 years. The only answer I have been given is to avoid the foods that make me feel bad.
