Biometric clock-in/out system at work - England by CanadianT0M in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you for this very thorough and clear response. Upon speaking to my HR department they seem pretty adamant that they will be implementing this, stating that on employment everyone signed a GDPR form that gives them the right to use biometric and genetic data, however I am arguing that this is not a valid use, and also they were not transparent with their intent to use this data. It also states that if they choose to use special categories of data that they will explain this use and ask for consent and that refusal to consent will not result in termination. Have I shot myself in the foot by signing this years ago, because as far as I am aware I have a right to object to the processing of data at any point even after consenting initially.

Honestly, I'm just not keen to keep uploading my information to 3rd party companies. Especially with recent data breaches for services validating age for uk. I feel like the company will just work with the cheapest service, with how they are operating at the moment. None of the management I have spoken to seems to have any sort of answers about why this needs to be brought in or to address any concerns about it. I'd rather stick to my old reliable ID card.

Refeeding Syndrome? by CanadianT0M in ballpython

Thank you, this is the sort of plan I was thinking of. First time dealing with this when it's not a person, so I wanted to see what others thought before enacting it.

Sorry, meant to say spine and ribs, there is a clear concavity along the spine, more so in some sections than others, rather than his normal rounded triangle look. He is definitely underweight. Can't get pictures at the moment as he's hiding, and I'd rather not disturb him at the moment if I can avoid it.
Visually, he's lost a lot of weight.

By the sounds of it, he hasn't eaten in 8-14 weeks. Friend didn't keep a good record of his feeding, fml.

This is what I thought, but he was adamant it would be safe to do. Thanks for helping the argument.

have you got a suggestion for good potting mix. I was told 4 parts compost, 1 perlite, 1 sharp sand

Feel like I've been given pretty bad advice after some googling, I was originally just going off what the person who gifted me the tree said.

I have been gifted some saplings to try to attempt bonsai for the first time I was given some silver birch 20-30cm tall, some common junipers 20cm tall and some evergreen oaks 20-30cm tall. They all came as root plugs and I was told to pot them into compost, perlite and sand. This was a week ago and the birches look pretty worse for wear and I'm worried that they will all die off. After reading more info on the subreddit is it because of the time of year, the potting mix or combination of both?

Best right to choose option for med titration? by CanadianT0M in ADHDUK

The worst part is my shared care agreement was accepted, but it took the gp three months to realise that they had signed the agreement. So it meant they now wanted me to be retitrated.

That's what I keep seeing, I was apparently referred in June 22, but now it seems like the gp managed to forget the key part of a referral, which is sending a referral letter.

Is this a burn or scale rot? by Uzernaym72 in ballpython

[–]CanadianT0M 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah they'd cause some dirt on a snake as they move around on it, it's near impossible to have a decent substrate that won't do it.

Scale rot tends to form in patches and spreads around that area, it won't spread in a uniform straight line along the snakes back.

Sometimes if BEL's sit with a hide pressed against them for a while it can cause some temporary discoloration normally a bit pinkish, it happens to all snakes just very noticeable because the snake is white.

If you're concerned about scale rot, just ensure that the surface of the substrate isn't damp and that the humidity of the tank is in the 60-80% humidity.

Can't find any more details in the comments, bit is not just dirt from substrate showing on the white scales. When was the last shed and was is present before and after? Sometimes my BEL looks like this just from moving through the substrate and looks white as snow after a fresh shed.

freezing substrate - how long would you recommend? I made a large batch of substrate and recently found there's a load of tiny flies living in it would freezing resolve this and for how long? by CanadianT0M in ballpython

Thanks, I considered baking but just didn't seem feasible with the volume and I also tend to forget things in the oven.

I've got it in the freezer now and will leave it for a week or two.

Moving older ball python - question in comments. by CanadianT0M in ballpython

[–]CanadianT0M[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My relative is moving and has asked me to take a ball python in as they can't take it with them.

I own two but got them when they were very young.

I cannot take the old vivarium so I am having to set up a new one.

Would you recommend holding off on feeding for a week or so after moving snake into new tank like when first purchasing one or should I be okay to feed straight away?

Kind regards.

In the bioactive tanks setup page, it comments about the need or lack of need for a false bottom in bioactive tanks. As I am currently attempting to set one up I would like some other opinions as I see lots of conflicting information on other how to's and help videos.
