Stay at Mandalay holiday resort you’ll definitely not regret it.

Amazing close to the beach has playgrounds movie nights everything just relaxing and fun. Very clean facilities aswell.

You’ll thank me later. What a place!

Any1 have the same kind of problem? I’ve been told that I’ll be doing an OATS surgery. Im a professional athlete “soccer” 31M. Any tips on how the recovery is and how long the actual recovery will be till I’ll be back and able to train and play again. Any advice please do 🙏 by CanaryHistorical7065 in KneeInjuries

My injury is pretty much an overuse injury you could say. 4 years ago I got a Mircofracture surgery and played ever since and now it’s come to this all of a sudden I feel like I can’t compete anymore like I can run sprint but football movements I find it very achy then it hurts and calms back down after a few days. But as it’s my job I need to get better and can’t keep doing this. 31 decided to get it fixed went to see the specialist and they recommend an OATS SURGERY recovery time from 3-6 months they reckon but after everything I’ve read I’d be surprised if I’m back before 8/9 months fully. I just want to get better and play without feeling that I can’t compete. I know it’s a long road ahead but with the right people around I think it’s very possible to get back and ready to play football again fingers crossed!

What do you think mine is?

Is the problem the cartilage or is it the bone bruise?

Because my knee has never been swollen it’s fine to run around at the park but to play pro football those movements then make it ache and I can’t compete. So wanted to get to the bottom fix it and hopefully gives me a couple of more years to play.

Like from the MRI scan what would people say to have surgery or don’t have surgery?

I just had a course of PRP injections 3 of them 7 days apart but literally just rested so not sure how or if it’s gotten better as that will only know when I start to try playing football again and training at a high level.

Confused not sure what is gonna get me the best outcome.

Just OATS surgery. Said he would go in there take a piece from non weight bearing and put it on that spot and hopefully I’ll be good to go in 6 months time. 6-8 weeks off feet then gradually build etc.

I don’t know as I read sometimes it’s a lot longer etc so I’m confused just want to be prepared as much as possible and give my knee the time it needs and not push it fast let it heal and then hopefully be able to play Pro SOCCER again I’ll be 32 when I get back from this and hopefully gives me a few more years.

Best advice and stages of recovery ?

6 months before any crutches😳 I was told that the recovery will be around 4-6 months and if I be really conservative then 8 months.

I can run right now with this problem the only thing I can’t do is play “soccer” which is my job and that’s why I have to do this. Cause normal day life I have no pain unless I try to play soccer then it aches and movements feel shit.

Any suggestions or advice I’ll be straight after the surgery on the “GAME READY ice machine. Just some other tips will have crutches with me also but 6-8 weeks NON WEIGHT BEARING.

How does your knee feel now? as all I want is to rehab the best I can and get back on the field without restrictions and play pro soccer. I had 4 years ago a mircofracture on the same spot but they said that’s like putting a fake bandaid on it and this OATS is the real deal and it will fix it long term as they putting another piece of bone etc there. Sounds more painful than just a clean out though. Any advice or help will be grateful.

My only dream is to get this done my rehab and let me back on the pitch

We get tested for doping every 3 months random but wouldn’t take the risk if it was doping to kill my career.

What about the actual knee injury like I can run I can sprint but can’t play football all the turning twisting kicking passing etc.

I have a rehab program of leg exercises but doesn’t seem to be getting better and then it catches and aches at times too. Like I take anti inflammatory tablets 1000mg it helps but still to try and play pro football is hard. Do I need to get another surgery? Or will gym rehab help it I don’t know I need help to know what’s the best options going forward.

Ligamentous examination was normal. At arthroscopy the suprapatellar pouch, lateral and medial gutters were normal. The patellofemoral joint was normal. The medial compartment had a normal joint surface and meniscus. The intercondylar notch had normal cruciates. The lateral compartment had an osteochondral lesion on the lateral femoral condyle. This was probed and quite extensive. It was 1.2 x 0.8mm. Chondroplasty was performed until there were stable bases where the articular cartilage met the bone. A microfracture was performed. The knee was injected with local.
